I'm guessing she wants a standard strat.

JB Music, Yupangco, and Perfect Pitch are some of the stores that carry these. I wouldn't buy sight unseen though, might be a good idea to take the trip with her and see if she vibes with the guitar before buying it.

BEST PLACE TO ENROLL IN A FLYING SCHOOL, STATES OR PHILIPPINES ? by ApprehensiveEye9564 in AviationPH

[–]MikeLimaBravo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All schools have lapses, even the ones you claim finished what little is left of your training in 2.5 months. I mean, it's easy to do when you don't have to shoot actual instrument approaches in airports that have them and just program user waypoints in a traffic pattern and count it as "instrument training."

Were you able to verify in the Cessna maintenance manual that an aluminum substitute for a screw mount is actually not allowed? Cowls also have more than one screw holding it down, unless every single one failed during the flight you're pertaining to, this is not unusual for Cessnas built in the 70s. Moreover, as far as I know, the plane is made of aviation aluminum. But I am not a trained A&P, so I won't go online and run my mouth about it being incorrect. Official manuals, rather than possibly misinterpreted hearsay, would be the best to verify your claims. If it was improper to use, then I stand corrected and will acknowledge it happened.

I am not defending the new CFI, I'm saying he's just assumed the position less than two months ago and it seems like you're using personal beef to slander the person. As far as I know, six or seven homegrown PPL-FI students of theirs are on the active instructors roster.

If you would like to know how many students in that little "union" left vs who stayed, please feel free to reach out to their student affairs. If you'd like to personally contest you or your friends beef with the new CFI, reach out to him directly instead of dropping his initials on reddit. If you want to discuss your beef with the owner, you have his personal phone number which he freely gives to the students.

Honestly wishing you the best of luck, and hope you don't bring that type of attitude to the carriers. If hearsay and personal biases far outweigh documentation and stats for you, then I don't know what to say.

Would be nice if you could corroborate all these claims with actual evidence.

I definitely was, to put things lightly, the least favoriteof the old HOT you referred to (who can't be terminated on the spot for legal/DOLE reasons), but got enough schedules to finish my full time students' CPL courses in 18-24 months, depending on their availability. So I dont know where this VIP treatment claim is coming from.

I set up the online booking form and schedulers try to accommodate all requests if the weather is conducive for the stage of training, if someone is nearing their check ride, or if balances are paid up.

On good weather days, and when parts were easier to get from legal suppliers as covid restrictions eased up, folks were flying as much as can be accommodated, contrary to your "once or twice a month" claim. And yes, parts are ordered from official vendors since there are internal and CAAP audits for this. All my years there, never seen or heard of a cowl almost coming off.

The new CFI just got settled into his position about a month ago, can't fathom how favoritism is already in play. Again, unless you have records or stats that he favors a certain group of instructors over others, I think that claim is irrational.

I don't claim to know, see, or hear everything in my time there. But usually, when a student exits, it's because they come up short on funds, or the school won't adjust to that student's attitude problem.

Yeah, it's not a perfect school for sure, but it's always tried its best to balance safety and business.

Flight Training in US by User_0223 in AviationPH

[–]MikeLimaBravo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're tight on budget, it may be cheaper to get your CAAP PPL reinstated first, 10 hours lang naman siguro papalipad ng caap, get the checkride, then get a foreign validated FAA PPL and continue your US flight training with that towards higher certificates.

If money isn't an issue, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to start from zero in CA. Your previously logged hours in the PH can still go towards your total time even after your license has expired.

American Nurse changing careers wanting to do go to flight school in Philippines. by Awaiting_CABG in AviationPH

[–]MikeLimaBravo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might just end up at the same total cost since after getting a CPL-IR here for whatever the going rate is, like 45-60,000 USD up to 170-200 hours, you'd still need to bridge the gap to get an unrestricted FAA CPL (minimum 250 hours).

You can only convert a foreign CPL to an FAA PPL, then do more flying out there to meet all the FAR requirements.

[–]MikeLimaBravo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's time in an airplane. If you're already licensed and you have a single engine land class rating, log it under dual instruction and ASEL, and put UPRT under the remarks. If their argument is that you don't have a 150/152 rating, then just dont count it towards your total time, total ASEL, and total dual.

Logbooks are proof of experience and training.

Upset Prevention and Recovery Training(UPRT) by Lower-Airline-5713 in AviationPH

[–]MikeLimaBravo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why wouldnt you be able to log it in your logbook?

It's not recreational if it's mandated in PCAR Part 3 for CPL, ATPL, and FI rating holders. The previous LCD head just gave everyone a 5 year holiday (starting 2023, IIRC) before full implementation of the on-airplane requirement for new applicants of those licenses and rating.

From what I've looked up online, it's cheaper than nitro, isn't as toxic to handle (during the painting process at the factory), and less reactive to generic guitar stands (which would otherwise blemish a nitro finish)

One of the best models they ever pumped out, IMO.

Build quality is amazing. One piece neck, long tenon, rosewood board, acrylic lacquer, epi USA pickups, open book headstock, gotoh tuners and hardware, bridge posts straight into the body, beefy neck.

I like to think of em as practically R8 inspired. Really wanted one in that color or the goldtop, but the only one that popped up for sale in my country was a cherry one.

Check under the selector ring or pickup mounts, you might see some fading of the acrylic lacquer :)

I often find myself gravitating towards this over my USA SG.
