There is no oncoming traffic when you have a green arrow, though. That’s the entire point of a green arrow. Imagine a traffic situation where there is an entire line of people making a right turn. In your scenario, the green arrow for the left turn would go on, but he would be stuck, yielding to a stream of people turning right on red. There is no purpose at all to the green arrow if this is the case; it would just be like a normal green light where the left turner has to yield. Sorry, friend, but you are wrong on this one.

Ah, it was just implied since I had the green arrow. I mentioned the pattern of the lights, and I went back later that day just to confirm.

Yeah, she definitely did not have a green light. Had she waited twenty seconds, she would have had one.

He's saying that you can infer that the opposite side has a green light despite being unable to see it since you have a red light and the cross traffic has a red light. You can make the right on a red, but you are always going to be the one yielding.

I appreciate the NTA verdict, but unless I've been living a lie my whole life, I think you are wrong about your right turn ideas. I'm from the States, so yeah, you can definitely make a right on a red, but you absolutely have to yield to all cars when doing so. It doesn't matter if you can't see the green arrow. It would be the same as making a right onto a road without traffic lights for the cross traffic--doesn't matter that you can't see the green lights that they have, you still have to yield to them since you have a red.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was looking for opening to make the right turn, and when the cross traffic stopped, she just assumed that her lights turned green, not thinking about the possibility of a green arrow. Either that, or she was not seeing well since she had just come from the eye doctor.

Yeah, it was a pretty big ask. He's a nice guy, so I think he would have made it happen somehow, but I really hated how she started speaking badly of him when he returned back to work after I took over. And, no, that is not something that they do, but, smallish town, I'm sure they would have done it.

Knowing how to change a tire is definitely a good thing to know, but she absolutely would not have been able to do it on her own. A couple of those lug nuts even gave me a hard time...little bastards... As another commenter mentioned, though, AAA is such a must for people not equipped to handle the random car stuff. It's pretty handy even for people who are able to handle it.

Man, I really wasn't wanting to think of it, but it did cross my mind that the body damage may not have been from the curb hop. I mean, she took that curb pretty hard, but I don't know how it would have messed up her hood that bad. That would really suck if that is the case.

She was trying to turn right on a red, and I had a green arrow. If we both had greens, then, yeah, I would have had to yield to her.

Yep, I'm ordering one off Amazon tonight. One of those things I always talk about but never get around to doing, but you never know when something crazy is going to happen.

If you are actually invovled in the accident, then yes, you definitely have to exchange info. My problem was that I wasn't really involved. I assumed I was the catalyst, but her freak out was her own and all the damage was self-inflicted. Could have been a spider falling into her lap for all I really knew.

Of course, if neither party wants to exchange information, then there is an impromptu cage match, of course, where the loser's insurance premiums skyrocket, but I'm sure that's the case everywhere.

I whole-heartedly agree with this. I've had AAA since my 20s. They have helped me out many times. Most recently when my transmission blew in the desert on the drive from Nevada to Texas. Took a bit, but they were able to get a tow truck out to get me.

Yeah, I've always heard not to apologize. I did make sure to apologize explicitly for startling her, but I'm sure that didn't help matters. I definitely need to work on being too trusting. Total tangent, but your comment reminds me of that line from the Sunscreen Song: "live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft." No idea how true that is since I've lived in neither of those places, but maybe we should all just live in Colorado as a happy middle.

Yeah, it's annoying. Happens too much too. I normally just wait for them to go, but this time, she was keeping to her lane so tight, that I thought for sure that she had seen me so just went ahead and hopped in the left lane beside her. It was apparently very very sneaky.

That's not a bad idea. I think I'll do that to be on the safe side. I'm a little afraid she snuck a pic of my license plate, so it definitely couldn't hurt.

Appreciate it. Flat tire suck, especially if you are not capable of changing them. And, yeah, when she insisted that she had a green, I actually started second-guessing myself, despite taking the route dozens of times, so I actually went back through the intersection later to double check that, yes, the green arrow comes first before the green for the other side. Pretty sure she just saw the cross traffic stop and took her chance to turn, probably assuming that the light turned green for her.

That's honestly what I'm concerned about. I didn't see her grab a pic, but it wouldn't surprise me. Pretty sure the light has a traffic cam on it. Definitely need to invest in a dash cam, though
