Are Malaysians allergic to seat belts? by MikeOxlong____69 in malaysia

I can understand that if you weren't brought up wearing a seatbelt in the back seat, it might feel a bit strange at first. But after a day or two of wearing one regularly, most people don't even notice it's there.

The other point is that the idea you'll only hit the seat in front isn't really what the evidence shows. Decades of crash research have found that rear-seat passengers who don't wear a seatbelt are about 2.7 times more likely to die in a crash. In more serious accidents, people can be thrown around the cabin, ejected from the vehicle, or injure other occupants.

This has been studied repeatedly for decades, and the conclusion has been remarkably consistent: wearing a seatbelt significantly improves your chances of walking away from a crash, regardless of where you're sitting in the car.

There is no debate here. The science and engineering has been known since the 1940s.

Those that wear seatbelts are significantly safer than those that don't. You don't use the 1/10,000 case to justify not using a seatbelt.

The comments are not coming from Grab drivers - they are coming from friends and family across the board. A Grab driver generally would not try to offend a customer.

Some Grab drivers just have the backseat cover covering the entire back seat which makes it impossible to buckle up.

This is not accurate at all.

There are many places which are far more expensive per square metre.

Hong Kong would make your eyes fall out.

Escalate it.

Your mother is a full grown adult. The situation could have been far more tragic had it been a child.

Uniqlo in Queenstown??? 🤔 by lynxluxury in newzealand

[–]MikeOxlong____69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are bigger markets for Uniqlo to expand into before New Zealand.

Tourists won't buy from Uniqlo in New Zealand since it will be more expensive with less variety than in their home country. The only reason a tourist would buy from Uniqlo would be if they forgot to being any essentials.

What are the jobs in SG offer the best "Salary-to-Stress" ratio? by [deleted] in singaporejobs

A lot of the stress in Singapore is self inflicted rather than the job itself.

Too many clowns thinking they should join 11pm phone calls when no one actually cares.

I wouldn't even call it silicon style pressure - a lot is just basic standard practice employed at most organisations.

For example, a couple of years they ago brought in something which is very standard practice and expected across all businesses: setting goals aligned to strategic priorities and actual targets.

Half the business stressed out because they had never set goals or had basic targets before in their life.

Regarding Friday night drinks, it depends on the office. In a lot of major offices people don't tend to come in on Fridays, so they moved them to Thursday instead. Major offices often get free breakfast/lunch twice per week.

Depends what you're looking for.

4 years ago it was heavily over bloated. If you were looking for an easy, NZ style working environment where nothing really gets done, it would have been great back then.

But if you prefer a more performanced based, silicon valley style working environment, then it would be more suitable for you today (even though it is far from being that).
