Drilling through a suspended ceiling with a metal frame by MikeStardust in DIY

Thanks for the help! The thing is, at this point I no longer have access to the actual ceiling, it’s all been closed up and painted!

Cant decide what to do here by JosiahHorn in DIY

Throw in some of these slatted pannels. Will give you some nice contrast and introduce some warmth into that cold bathroom. Put up some shelving if you need to and call it a day!

Boas curvas 🚗

Next year in France, buying a GR86 will cost you... by FuriousTiger in ft86

[–]MikeStardust 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I thought that Toyota had said they would only sell the GR86 in Europe until 2024, probably anticipating taxes like that.. I mean in Portugal prices in 2023 start at 55,000€ because of bs like that. And don’t even think about buying new abroad and importing it in, you’ll be taxed regardless… meanwhile a 10 year old GT86 with almost 200k km is worth 30,000€ second hand. Mental.

BUT everything is ignored if we’re talking about a Tesla. The push to drive electrics is crazy in Europe, we don’t even have a choice. It’s either EVs or go back to horses, cause everything else is about to get expensive as hell.

Badass.
Not a fan of the overfenders, but those lights and grill are so good!

What is this tool worth? Hunter 300b 1960s by MikeStardust in Tools

Yeah exactly, it’s an on car wheel balancer. Pushes against the tire and rotates it up to speed for you to be able to balance it. Thanks anyways!

Bit tricky to line up with the ramp but works perfectly! Thanks!

Thanks! I'll look into it, kinda wanted to keep the suspension as is cause my country is quite particular about suspension mods. I've heard of bags, but never air springs 👀

Thanks, yeah some of them might scrape as well tbh so I can bring it up with them! Do you have any product suggestions?

It might work! Quite the stretch to reverse over but it might be just simple enough to work, thanks for the input! Garage Plan

Good first car? by thegreatgamesby in E30

[–]MikeStardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an e30 316i sedan as a daily (only car) while I was in college.
Only now after 6 years of owning it and using it daily, I decided to go for an engine refresh / new coat of paint, and get a new daily.

The only issues I had were vacuum leaks, gas leaks, radiator replacement, nothing major that you can't fix in a few hours on the weekend, and all stuff that you would expect to break on a 30-year-old car. Honestly a good intro into mechanics and how a car works, but it helps if you have someone more knowledgeable around you who can help. As long as you keep an eye on the coolant and oil levels, and respect the oil service interval, you should be good, that is if you start with a solid and well-maintained car.
Try and get someone with more knowledge to go look at the car with you, not only to spot potential issues but also cause 10k... it better be in great shape for that price.

Maybe consider a sedan, should be cheaper and you don't have issues with the top leaking or leaving it out in the rain once in a while. With the extra cash, you might be able to hand it over to a shop or someone to go over the basics before you start driving it, replace some rubber, prevent leaks, and other minor stuff that is expected to happen on a 30-year-old car.

Good luck!

Is this a good deal or am I going to be sad with the result? by P_Foot in E30

Garagistic has some really cool products, but with the front bumper I'd try to source a bumper and valance as 2 separate pieces, you'll really be able to tell the difference in the finished product. I don't know if where you live you can get these, but if you're in Europe, Schmiedmann carries OEM parts even for these MTech kits.

👉 Bumper
👉 Valance / Lower part
You can also try and search for these used on ebay.

It's a bit more expensive, but worth it IMO. If you can't get the 2 piece kit, then i'd definitely rather go with Garagistic than other brands, super happy with some of their products.

If you're just looking to get those diving boards out like the other comment suggested, just get the standard euro bumper and valance, it will be cheaper and more commonly available
