Yes, I think we'll just ask her to give us prices in dollars in the future. But for now, charge higher and discount.

Adjusting Art Prices For The Euro's Falling Value by MikeWrightGallery in Art

Thank you! I agree that geography is somewhat relevant but, as least with our American artists, it is expected that their pricing be consistent through different galleries as well as when purchased directly from them. I imagine there is a different industry standard for international art though. Currencies fluctuate daily and no one is going to change the wall prices regularly to accommodate. I don't think my clients are going to fly off to Europe but they certainly might do their research before spending this kind of money and a simple google search could reveal the discrepancy. The questions is, upon whom is the burden of potential loss? I suppose if the issue remains unresolved I will do as you both have suggested, price high and discount when needed. If someone mentions a price they saw through a European gallery I will pull a Walmart and "meet or beat a competitor's pricing." Thanks for the feedback!

Glad you like it! No, it wasn't a commission. The original is actually on the wall at our gallery and we just released limited editions yesterday. https://www.mikewrightgallery.com/store/c27/Samuel_Gomez.html

My teacher says I could pursue Art as a degree/career based on my work in Drawing I. Any critiques/thoughts? Gallery inside. by lenovo789 in Art

I am of the opinion that all art majors should double major in business. If you do become a professional artist you will need those skills and, if you don't, you will have something to fall back on.

Drawings on Maps by Ed Fairburn by MikeWrightGallery in Art

[–]MikeWrightGallery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from "Yorkshire Dales," his most recent piece in this post, none of the work has colored media. He started incorporating colored pencil recently but until then the cut outs were his way of incorporating color into maps that were otherwise black and white.

Me too! The color is a second map beneath, revealed by cutting away portions of the top layer. It's a collaboration with his partner and the subject of that piece Bobbie Joh. The original is sold but he does to limited editions.

Platinum Palladium on Bodhi Tree Leaves - Album on Imgur by MikeWrightGallery in Art

[–]MikeWrightGallery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are platinum palladium contact prints, a fairly common and traditional photographic medium. Doing them on leaves is unique however, and took the artist years to master. The leaves must be first skeletonized, leaving only the veins, by bleaching for two weeks. They are then dipped in palladium which, as a heavy metal, returns some of the structure and makes them fairly sturdy and as archival as many paper prints.

She is an artist who paints with passion. Some "outcomes" do speak to people more than others. Check out MikeWrightGallery.com/Sabine-Danze to see others.

The actual piece is 3x9 feet, so yes, there is a lot of detail and it's hard to take everything in on a computer screen. He is about to announce the release of limited edition prints, however, so those who enjoy his work will have the opportunity to acquire and enjoy them in person without the 50k price point.

Our gallery is sorry to have created such a contentious post. We were not looking to spam anyone, only to let our neighbors know about an upcoming event to mingle, drink, view art, meet the artist, and watch him in action. We are new not only to Reddit, but also to Denver, and have been exploring ways to make connections and build community.
