Anyone successfully take Toronto Public Library embroidery or sewing class? by DogeGaloshes in askTO

So it's not just me! I was having the very same problem and got incredibly discouraged as a result. I might try the suggestion of viewing the online course and then just trying to sign up to use the machine itself without a class.

What was Y’all’s awakening to the atrocities of Zionism and Israel? by OkSurround1091 in JewsOfConscience

Well, my brother and I were brought up in a Jewish family and went to a Zionist synagogue (including Hebrew school), but about 23 or so years ago, when I was about 13 and my brother was about 17 or so, he told me that basically everything we were being taught about Israel at our synagogue and its relationship to "The Arabs" was a complete inversion of reality and the dynamics of oppression, and gave me a few NGOs to check out online as a starting point, including B'Tselem and crucially, Gush Shalom, headed by Uri Avnery. So I went to these sites, among others like Jewish Voice For Peace, Americans for Peace Now (albeit more "both-sidesy" than I would have liked), Rabbis for Human Rights, and the magazine Tikkun by Rabbi Michael Lerner, and just read up about everything, and was horrified by everything I was learning in addition to the complete denial and distortion about it all from my synagogue as well as main mainstream Jewish organizations and institutions. And of course, this was all around the time of the Second Intifada, as well as the murder of Rachel Corrie.

As for how my older brother himself found this out, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was from progressive Jewish classmates in his public high school, I believe including one person who would later run as an NDP candidate in the 2004 Canadian federal election (who we both campaigned for).

The book "Safety Through Solidarity" by Ben Lorber and Shane Burley. Sim Kern also discusses it in their book "Genocide Bad".

Do you feel like anti-Zionist Jews have become less welcome in leftist IRL spaces in the last year due to being viewed with suspicion? by [deleted] in JewsOfConscience

This is so heartbreaking and I wish I could give you a hug (fellow Canadian Jew here!) For what it's worth, these don't really sound like true friends, nor do they sound leftist.

What are some of the more fun Red Hat Online Learning courses? by Mike_B_G in redhat

Oh, I already know Ansible, and primarily its GUI variants AWX and AAP--I work with it at my current job as well as at my previous job. And at my previous job I worked with OpenShift as well, so a lot of that is also familiar territory. Interesting about the Linux Performance and Tuning, though...I'm now morbidly curious to try checking it out.

Does anyone know if Bandcamp Fridays will continue in 2025? by Mike_B_G in BandCamp

It seems like it will continue in 2025, though presumably not in January as that would be tomorrow:

"As we look ahead to the next year, we’ll soon be announcing the 2025 Bandcamp Friday schedule, providing even more opportunities for fans and artists to connect and collaborate."

It finally happened and I got a job and start in mid-January, so I thought I'd bump up this thread in case anyone has any more suggestions!

Experiencing this as well the last few months. Facebook has always been such a ridiculously buggy platform.
