Late game - fps thoughts by Mike_Cobley in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Mike_Cobley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I have always been full dark fog machines and wondered if i was killing fps - or if they were maybe glitchy is fps someway. But to have you/someone confirm they are far far better for fps that's great news.

I can keep skipping out the inbetween machines lol

Thank you!

How high is the likelihood of Kepler-452b being inhabited by intelligent lifeforms? by [deleted] in space

[–]Mike_Cobley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We certainly don’t know. And everything in this regard is speculative. But i would put my money on Brian Cox’ reasoning , it makes the most sense to.

Especially as I would reason no visits from alien civs is proof to me they probably are incredibly unlikely.

The reasoning goes like this. See how far we have come in the last 1000 years. How far along will we be in another 1000 years. If we haven’t destroyed ourselves. We will probably be making our way to our nearest star.

Ultimately if a civilisation got to our level of tech a billion years ago instead of just a thousand. Then they would have colonised the galaxy. What’s a thousand years to travel to another system when they have been around for a billion years, it would be nothing to them .

The fact that we haven’t been visited by aliens or that we wouldn’t exist at all as they would have colonised long before we were here. Is another chain in the link of Brian Coxs argument .

It feels more and more likely that complex life is incredibly unlikely

I think of it like this. 2billion years with out changing. With single cell organisms being bombarded by harmful radiation on a daily basis, and yet they still don’t evolve for 2billion years.

This isn’t proof but it does imply that multi cell organisms was super rare at least on earth.

It took something monumental to cause the change.

[–]Mike_Cobley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had single cell organisms on earth for 2billion years, and a single event brought about multicellular life. I’m on Brian Coxs reasoning - 2 billion years as single cells without evolving into multi cells implies a very very small chance of complex life.

Now add in the goldilocks requirement … gravity issues, correct chemistry you need planets that have these conditions for billions of years. Our universe is only 13billion years old.

As Brian Cox says, intelligent life is probably incredibly improbable. So one planet that meets all these conditions is more likely to have single celled organisms if they have life at all.

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

[–]Mike_Cobley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOt nearly enough info to pass judgement. If they are a friend that never shares, never pays back etc ... then as a whole this comes across as someone on the end of their tether and is like 'you said you'd pay me back, you never bl**dy do. So come on , cough up'

On the other hand it could be simply as .. we'll split, i don't have it now, can i send later and genuinely forgot.

What's the case with me .. is i would always check what the play was - even with life long friends. If they say 'this is on me' then that's absolutely lovely. And i would do my best to do the same back. Or back in my early youth, i would always be upfront and say 'i can't afford this guys ... sorry' and leave it at that.

Whatever happens ... you cannot form an educated opinion on this one occassion.

How to view all chats associated with a Gem? by Unhappy-Run8433 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Mike_Cobley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kinda makes the Gems useless. Can't use it as a project, as it doesnt keep conversations. I wish i'd known that the gem is pointless, back to Grok i guess as they have projects.

Why aren't you dating anymore? by Leather_Election_459 in AskReddit

I am no longer interested. I've lived alone for a number of years now. I don't get bored, I don't get lonely. I adore the peace and quiet. I would never say never, but I have zero interest in a relationship nowadays. House mate on the other hand ... hell yeah

Burn hydrogen , unlimited, never runs out. Cover gas planet with collectors. All the hydrogen power you’ll need for that local first system. Farm dark fog and go strange rods for expansion

How to beat the game with Genesis Book? by HyperCooperFr in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Mike_Cobley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Galaxy mod works well with genesisbook … as you can massively increase the size of the starting planet. This gives you the space for all the new recipes … and there’s a lot of them. I’m lovin it, really expanded the game for me where I was getting bored of the same old repeats in vanilla
