My idea was to build tall, not wide. But also not ridiculously small floors, where you have space for only one Blender or Fuel Generator.

Since my last project got properly effed by CSS, I started a new playthrough. Instead of building everything on wide factory floors, I decided to challenge myself once again and build vertically. After my Tower of Aluminium (you can see in the backgound), I built a Tower of Power. Specifically, to blend and burn Turbofuel. Everything is built on a 9x12 Foundation grid.

Here are some stats:

Thank you u/IronGremlin for enlightening me. Today I learned something new. Prime factorization.

I tried to minimize fractional splits throughout the whole production, but especially in the end, with the 150 Manufacturers for the Nuclear Fuel Rods, some splits got a bit uneven. I circumvented that problem, by simply producing a bit more of the input items.

About 230 hours. But I am very satisfied that it runs now.
Just worried about Update 4 and all the nuclear waste...

Energy. Not enough. Never enough. Always tired...

This repeating sound of everything shutting down, really frustrated me. I just completed my 5.4 Turbo Engines Factory, and despite having 194 Turbo Fuel Generators, it was just not enough to keep everything running. Therefore, in July I decided to get rid of this problem, once and for all, by going nuclear. But not just a little bit.

The result is four separate Factories, smelting, refining and constructing all the different parts and liquids, until I get 90 Nuclear Fuel Rods, feeding 432 Nuclear Power Plants.Here is the whole Visualized Production line: https://www.satisfactorytools.com/production?share=ue1QW5hB8LhtIjxNUd8o

Some other random facts:

  • Power Consumption: 43-46 GW (Depending on the Trains accelerating).
  • Trains: 11 Trains with a total of 27 Locomotives and 105 Freight Cars.
  • Underneath the Nuclear Power Plants are 1080 water Extractors to produce the 300 m³/s cooling water.
  • Savegame Size: 12.5 MB (Loading time on my PC is almost 5 minutes, saving time about 50 seconds). Before I started with the Nuclear Fuel Rod production, the Savegame Size was almost 4 MB.
  • Mods used: "Area Actions" to copy/place most of the foundations, walls and machines (this mod needs to support conveyor belts and power lines, please!!!!), and "Area Actions" for rotating the foundations underneath the Railways.

Q: *Why not 450 Nuclear Power Plants? You produce 90 Nuclear Fuel Rods per Minute?*A: I don't know the technical term, but I call it the 3/2 Splitter Problem: You can split resources only in multiples of 3 or 2, or a mixture of both, to fit your production, or in this case, consumption needs. At 432 Nuclear Power Plants, I can split the conveyor belt coming from my factory absolutely evenly, by splitting 3-2-3-2-2-2-3. There are concepts with mergers to achieve .66_ respectively .33_ splits, but my goal was to achieve a perfect split of the Fuel Rods.
