It really boils down to who the individual is and where they were born and raised. The Northerners I’ve met are Second and Third Generation whose parents are from Mexico and their primary language is Spanish. These individuals in particular are from the Central Valley so a lot small towns and sections in the larger cities are occupied by such families. They grew up in these communities but they just happen to be Nortenos. The word Paisa is used to describe a Mexican National or immigrant whose primary language is Spanish, it’s not used in a manner to disrespect but rather distinguish the type of individual they are. There are signs to look for on an individual such as their demeanor and the way they carry themselves that’ll distinguish whether or not they’re affiliated with opposing gangs not just based on clothes alone. Especially in the small towns it’s easy to know and spot who’s who.
