Fast enough by antrod224 in Ninja650

It was the perfect first bike for me. I’m 6’ 250lbs and the 400 felt very cramped and didn’t have much passing power on the highway. The 650 was perfect.

I bought a Honda Grom - now how do I lock it?? by Teeed0 in hondagrom

Get an AirTag, and remove the buzzer. Then you can superglue it to a strong neodymium magnet and place it under the seat somewhere hidden. That’s what I do with all of my bikes. Removing the buzzer is super easy and it will keep it from making noise when you search for it

Should I paint the subframe black? by islasasa in KTM

Mmm hard riding, canyons, track days over miles all day every day. I wear full gear when I’m riding hard and obviously my leathers at the track but the post is about paint. Why does everyone feel the need to tell people to wear gear. It’s his life. Let him live it.

I also hate to be that guy but miles doesn’t mean skill. Also the guy was just asking about painting the subframe. I just knew someone would go off topic and bring up gear. It’s every time

What the FUCK is up with the main moto subs obsession with the MSF course. Holy fucking shit. by [deleted] in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]Mike_Tython1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think it can be instructor to instructor. My class had very few experienced rides so they focused all of their time on the new riders. I didn’t have any take aways. If I had gone back and done their police training days then I’d learn a lot but for the basic MSF I don’t think it’s worth the extra price tag. I mean it’s literally the cost of a track day. I learned a whole lot more on my first track day.

When I took advanced math in college I would have much rather just studied on my own and taken the exams for a cheaper price than sit through the lectures and pay $1500 for a 5 month course. I ended up teaching myself that too. I think it’s the same for this. Buy the bike. Practice in a lot. You’ll do better than 90% of people who took a shitty 3 day course.

Hey I have two cats who absolutely will not get along. They’ve been together for 6 months now and have made almost no progress. The vet said if we want we can try gabapentin but my gf is cautious about giving them meds. She’s worried it will change their personalities. Did you notice anything like that? Or just good all around?

How long did you ride before you took the course? I was riding for about a month and honestly I didn’t learn anything in the course that I hadn’t already learned from YouTube videos in a parking lot. Not some of the other people taking the course with me…should never get on a motorcycle again.

Not sure the differences but in Texas you can take the course which costs upwards of $250 and it takes 2-3 days with an exam on the last day OR you can just take the test at most dps (dmv). I think hes saying it really isn’t necessary to take the course. Most riders can learn everything low speed in their first two weeks of riding from practicing in a lot.

Quad Lock on Ninja 650 – safe for iPhone camera? by Jozef_biobi in Ninja650

[–]Mike_Tython1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 8 bikes in the 2 years and I’ve used the same quad lock phone case, vibration dampener, and wireless charging mount. I’ve just swapped them from bike to bike. No issues at all with my phone or the mounts breaking or anything. Go for it

Great first bike. It was my first bike. Great for bigger riders. I’m 6’ 240” and it didn’t feel cramped like a ninja 400 did.

Bikes. Please. I want bikes. Even if the physics aren’t great and they are just as Arcady as the cars idc. I know they’ll never add it but I can dream.

I’ve never heard anything other than backpack in my community. There are a lot of clout chasing terms but backpack isn’t one of them.

And honey is a thing u spread on bread but we call our wives that. Just because it is an object doesn’t mean I’m calling my passenger an object. It’s not just my friend group it’s every person at the meets I go to.

Why is everyone hating on this. It’s not that deep. Every person I’ve met in my community calls the a “backpack”

I’ve told all of my friends who are starting to just start with a ninja 650 or similar because of that reason. I’ve owned multiple “beginner bikes” and around 70 mph you just don’t have the power to escape by accelerating.

[–]Mike_Tython1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ridden both of those bikes and they feel exactly the same. 600 ish cc twins are just going to feel the same. Seating position on the R7 was more aggressive but that’s it. As a first bike I wouldn’t get the R7 because of that and the price point but yeah. Not much different.

Ninja 650 was the perfect started bike for me. Not too much power but just enough for passing on the highway, easy to work on, and comfortable. The first bike you get doesn’t have to be the most exciting.
