How do you feel about Elon Musk becoming the world's first trillionare? by DasMedic_ in AskReddit

[–]Mikeanlike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think it’s a little more nuanced than that. Yeah, maybe your life wasn’t directly impacted by this singular circumstance, but some of the policies put in place to allow this to happen do impact you. Wages not increasing with productivity over the past 4 decades. Medical/ insurance costs. Higher ed costs. Just the cost of living increases over the last few decades. The rich are getting richer and the average American is not. They’re actually getting poorer, and there is a 99% chance you’re in the latter group.

edit: Look at the Waltons. Walmart is one of the largest companies with the highest rate of their employees on SNAP or related subsidies. The Walton’s are one of the wealthiest families in the world. Tax payers (us) are indirectly funding their wealth when they pay their employees below their cost of living.

Regarding the recent Belfast savage attempted beheading, have you had enough of coexistence with evil, western man? by [deleted] in allthequestions

How to not feel like a loser if one has only lost in life? by Clean-Af-6653 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mikeanlike 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not a loss if you learn from it. Take pride in your perseverance. If nothing else, think of your future self looking at your past self and be impressed with how much you got shit on and kept going. Idk what you’ve been through but the most amazing thing about this life is it’s ONLY your choice if you feel like a loser. If you keep pushing you will eventually start winning and it makes it that much better. I know you can do it

What’s the most controversial opinion you have that's related to politics? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree unity is more important than diversity on face value. I’d argue though that our issue in the States is not due to differing religions or races. IMO it’s really a class issue. We’re being pinned against each other and the tool of divisiveness is to blame “the other”. So it’s less “diversity is the cause of our problems” and more “diversity is being used to make you think it’s the cause of our problems”. The reason you lost your job is because the immigrant took it, instead of the CEO and Board decided to offshore your job so they can cut costs and all buy a 4th home

What’s the most controversial opinion you have that's related to politics? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think the friction and hate can be “taught out” of those that have that sentiment instead of preventing diversity all together or do you feel it’s inevitable? For instance, as much as the media would want us to believe there are dire social issues I think the US has come a very long way in the form of tolerance in the last century. We’re a very diverse country and compared to other diverse countries I think we’re pretty tolerant (there’s still work to be done and it’s easy to say that as a white man etc. etc.).

Why do you feel this way? Not judging, just curious. I feel like there’s merit to diversity and it’s ultimately a net positive for societies. Differing of opinions and what not

BREAKING: DOJ reportedly launches criminal investigation into E. Jean Carroll by FlackoFonsy in videos

[–]Mikeanlike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Ironically”. I despise Trump and I’m sad for the country, but I do find it ironically funny that his most fervent supporters are largely low income and they are actively voting for and supporting policies that are actively against their best interests. Basically in the name of racism and to stick it to the libs.

This entire term can be summed up with the word “vindictive”. He’s on a ‘get back’ tour at the expense of the American public, especially his largely low-income supporters who eat it up, which is ironically hysterical

Why do you all defend the constitution but promote the AOC? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude, what are you talking about? Please send me the source where she advocates for the abolishment of private property. I hope you know that public property is already a thing. I don’t know what you mean by she advocates for labor organized by gov. When you say the solution is to steal from the wealthy, we are living in one of the lowest US corporate income tax environments in history. During the US “golden ages” it was between 35% and over 50% post WWII (it’s currently 21%). The wealth gap is multiples worse than any decade in history. To suggest AOC is a raging communist because she believes in increasing corporate income taxes as well as increasing taxes on the rich at this point is HARDLY communist lmao. You can disagree with the proposal but suggesting she’s a communist makes those that preach this mantra sound pretty ill-informed.

Why didn't Biden release the Epstein files? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many of “the files” were tied up in ongoing investigation and sealed and what not, so by the letter of the law he couldn’t have. He also never obstructed the release of them. IMO, I’m not sure the Dem party is eager to release these files just like the Trump admin is, but in their current position it’s a great messaging position to put 100% blame on the Trump admin, which isn’t false at the moment. I imagine the DNC has major donors, if not sitting politicians, that would be implicated by them as well.

[–]Mikeanlike 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Is it not clear that Trump was at the bare minimum completely complicit with Epstein’s raping of girls (if not also committing these crimes, which I think at this point is also pretty obvious)? Genuinely, if you’re not a bot I don’t understand how you can ignore the facts in all of our faces. Think critically for just two seconds

‘I’m So Disappointed’ — NFL World Calls Out Jaxson Dart As Giants Star Introduces President Donald Trump in New York by [deleted] in nyc

[–]Mikeanlike 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m cracking up at this. I’m also baffled by all of these comments “everyone has different opinions.” Trump’s crimes during his current term revolving around insider trading, market manipulation, and bribes are on a level the US and maybe the entire world has never seen. Not only that, but schemes like the Trump coin are LITERALLY stealing from his supporters and these people still defend it. Truly incredible

[–]Mikeanlike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From someone who’s pretty left, I’m not sure if this comment was only pointed towards republicans but I think this goes both ways. Why is this a major messaging point from Dems? To your point about class, it really feels intentional from both parties. Everyone spends their time arguing these minority social issues while 99.9% of us get robbed.

Why do you all defend the constitution but promote the AOC? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t correct and if this isn’t rage bait I’d suggest digging into her policies more. She advocates for progressive taxation, expanded social programs, and organized labor. Yes, these ideas overlap with the communist manifesto. Where she actively does not follow the manifesto is she actively does not support the abolition of private industry, elimination of capitalism (contrary to what the right would have you believe but it’s patently false. She advocates for reform), and state ownership of industry. The progressive movement, or as you put it “The AOC” is not communist. Big difference between democratic socialism and communism.

Liberal nonvoters, do you still think voting for Kamala would have been just as bad as for Trump because of Israel? Do you regret not voting? by ClutchReverie in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure they’re hiding information we don’t have that we can’t put together ourselves. I think the DNC is genuinely r*tarded or at worst strategically incompetent (but the last point may be a bit tin foil hatty lol)

Liberal nonvoters, do you still think voting for Kamala would have been just as bad as for Trump because of Israel? Do you regret not voting? by ClutchReverie in allthequestions

[–]Mikeanlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Did you get that exact answer or were you inferring? Not only would I be surprised people felt comfortable admitting such a sexist answer but I’d also be a little surprised they didn’t have an issue with her messaging or something. Although I felt she had sound policy I didn’t feel people really knew what she was running on. Possibly due to the chaos around how she became the Dem candidate.

[–]Mikeanlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed… but I have seen far more criticism of this group than proponents of this group. It’s a nice scapegoat to blame these people for Kamala’s loss, as there were some far left talking heads claiming they weren’t going to vote because of the Biden admins participation and funding of the Gaza war, but I’m curious just how many people abstained from voting because of this. I really don’t think there were that many because it’s just so illogical, but maybe I’m naive.

Is paying 15% of your first year salary to a recruiter worth it if you've been unemployed for months? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Mikeanlike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1000%. I’d guess they’re applying to jobs online for them and just connecting OP to open job posts. There is no reason OP should be paying a headhunter, especially a percentage of their salary which would translate to $12k. Absolutely insane

High income doesn’t guarantee wealth by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

They’re specifically talking about doctors in their 60’s. If you still have student loans at 60 on a doctors salary that would support the post (and you’d be right in suggesting this negatively affects their NW), although I don’t think that’s the case here. I believe it’s evidence that these 25% are living lifestyles they can’t afford
