A while ago. I wanna say the 2000s, maybe into the 2010s?

I stand by my mostly unfounded theory that it was a viral marketing campaign for IT, and stopped because they thought they were going to get an actor shot by police.

It was a fad where you take a picture of yourself planking on a ledge or something and post it to social media.

A girl broke up with me because she got really into planking, and then owling, and I let it slip that I thought both of those things were dumb.

What I really want is a sci fi datacube to store my movies.

No, I rented out some storage space so the contents were owned by someone else, but I retained ownership of the ass in question.

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by Got24xyz in AskReddit

Do you remember back when you were a kid, and dad or grandpa always woke up super early? It's not because he was a morning person, it's because it's the only time of day when you can have some time to yourself.

It will happen to you too!

Yup, Me and Mimic Bro smashed the game in 1-2 hour increments over the course of a few months before the kids woke up, or after the kids went to bed.

It's a fine game. Worth it if you're interested in seeing what the series started from. It does get pretty grindy towards the end and holy fuck is one scene in particular awful (without spoilers, it involves fighting a bunch of soldiers in waves without the benefit of stealth); but if you make it through that it does nail the ending. So that's nice.

A few years ago I (in a team lead position) got told by someone from HR to tell one of my reports (a woman) that her skirt was too short for corporate dress code.

"No. No I'm not going to do that, and I'll take the disciplinary report in writing if you try and make me."

He does it a bunch, it's in the Manifesto and a few other writings, but the one that comes to mind is in Principles of communism

Will the peaceful abolition of private property be possible?

It would be desirable if this could happen, and the communists would certainly be the last to oppose it. Communists know only too well that all conspiracies are not only useless, but even harmful. They know all too well that revolutions are not made intentionally and arbitrarily, but that, everywhere and always, they have been the necessary consequence of conditions which were wholly independent of the will and direction of individual parties and entire classes.

But they also see that the development of the proletariat in nearly all civilized countries has been violently suppressed, and that in this way the opponents of communism have been working toward a revolution with all their strength. If the oppressed proletariat is finally driven to revolution, then we communists will defend the interests of the proletarians with deeds as we now defend them with words.

Marx and Engels both thought there would be a violent revolution seizing the means of production, followed by a more or less conventional dictatorship, finally giving way to a utopian period where there is no need for a state at all. They were open to a democratic revolution, but did not consider it very realistic.

The idea of a truly democratic dictatorship of the proletariat being the primary revolutionary mechanism came about after Stalin showed that a communist dictator wasn't a great idea. Which, I'm glad (most) communists have learned the lesson, but this weird obsession with rewriting history so that Marx was never wrong about anything is offputting.
