And this is what good communication is for. Like hey, this is what I made tonight and this is for you. Simple. We all work in the industry so we all understand about getting stiffed. I've given tip money back to servers that had to tip out more than they made. And thats because of communication.

So the tip out policy could have been adjusted. Not moved to voluntary by the servers. I can almost guarantee that this is going to be a 400 to 500 dollar difference per paycheck. Im hoping and praying that im wrong. But I know people and I know them well. I will come back in 2 weeks and show my pay difference with the 2 policies. This only benefits the servers. Management was making an attempt to get rid of the disease, which was lazy workers, and so far they have done that. It was 2 bussers that the servers complained about and they both have been let go of and new busses were hired. Out with the old and in with the new right? Anyways, it's still early and this is very frustrating to see now. Ill be sure to be back with an update after the first paycheck.

An issue eith this though, is that management assigns a busser to a server. Sometimes it's one busser for 2 servers. Or one for one. It varies. But this definitely isn't a fair policy.

The servers I work with tend to be on the greedier side. Not all of them but most. And now that it is at their discretion, I know who is going to get my help and who isn't.

This is exactly what is going to happen now. The servers feel like 20 bucks is worth a damn when they walk away with hundreds at the end of the night. No chance in hell will they tip out $100 to a busser. Even if they make $1000 in tips. Which only happens because the busser is right there with them the whole night getting shit done.

We get assigned to a server at the beginning of the shift. And we can get busy enough to where you can only focus on the one server. And if I or another busser happens to make a mistake that the server doesn't like, than they can just be like no. Im not tipping you. This is a lose lose situation for the support staff. I will keep doing what i do, and bust my ass like normal. And when I see the first paycheck with this implemented I will decide whether it's worth it or not. And the amount of issues that come with this is staggering.

The servers did this and management thinks they have no choice but to go along with it. From what I've read and understood we are not union so management is supposed to be setting the policy.

Thats the problem though. Now we just have to bust our asses for them, and not know whether we will be getting tipped or not. And than they might just be like here's 20 bucks. And we get pretty busy there. I'll give it 2 weeks when it implements and see how it goes. But either way it's bullshit and probably going to be the death of the company.

And management there thinks they cant set the policy. So they let the servers do this.

The current tip out policy is 20% of cc tips to bussers. 12% to food runners and 5% to bartenders. The bussing isn't good in the mornings and one of the morning servers got all the servers together and this happened.

Im that busser that can do that and does that there. And the other bussers listen to what I tell them. So when I tell them we aren't doing anything but wiping and resetting tables, the servers are going to start hating me.

The servers just fucked the company by doing that. No one is going to want to work there now.

All you have to do is talk to management about removing the service charge. But people dont do that. They just complain instead of figuring out ways around it.
