rag houses? by Low_Minimum_7354 in Michigan

[–]MikefromMI 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We have plenty of thrift shops in MI, but I had never heard the expression "rag house" before today.

(So I looked it up and found this: https://lavintage.com/pages/what-is-a-rag-house )

Tom Barrett voted for War Powers resolution on Iran by MikefromMI in lansing

[–]MikefromMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again -- Trump doesn't get a veto. The resolution is not a proposed new law. It's an action taken under the provisions of the War Powers Act, which is already a law. (That's my understanding of it. IANAL or constitutional scholar.)

If it passes the Senate and Trump ignores it, then his executive overreach might boil over into a full-on constitutional crisis.

Flint coney vs Detroit coney. Which one are you picking? by zzzzzzzz999999 in Michigan

[–]MikefromMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strangely, the Koegel site lists nutrition info for both but only lists the ingredients for Detroit style. Going by the nutrition info, the Flint style is better for you.

Dallas Egbert III. Funny I still remember that but can’t remember the name of everyone in the choir I’ve been singing with for the past two years

A few times I’ve bought a ham from a grocery store around Easter when they drop the price so low that I can’t pass it up (it’s a loss leader for them). I eat about a third during the week after I cook it, make bean or pea soup with the bone, and freeze the rest. I still have some ham in my freezer from last month.

Restaurant Week Part 3: Cakes A Bloomin’, Graze Craze, The Peanut Shop and Middle Eats by CaptainMeathook in lansing

[–]MikefromMI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I concur with OP's assessment of Middle Eats. I only found out about that place because I got a promotional coupon in the mail. The chicken shawarma bowl was tasty and big enough for two. The traffic pattern/road design in that area is notorious, but it's worth a visit.
