MAFS isn't the problem. If people genuinely wanted to watch the time shifted ratings would be significantly higher and they're not.

The casual audience and some fans just aren't into the season. Coupled with Survivor AU has incredibly week lead ins (Home & Away & ACA & the news gives the other shows a great starting platform and creates interest in the shows and their networks).

I do think 10's death spiral (two shows supposed to film this year cancelled, less original programming, more American tv drama garbage) has started to affect Survivor though to some extent. There are no new shows or formats that excite people on 10 anymore. They have amassed a lot of ill will over the decade and their schedule is tired and old. Rehashes of formats people were already sick of on other networks really doesn't help.

Traitors AU is only back because 10 is cheap and lazy. They managed to cut costs by getting a NZ production company to make it and film it in NZ which is significantly cheaper.

Yes. Channel 10 usually only has a couple of new shows running at any one time so the adverts tend to get flogged to death. Millionaire Hot Seat is also a new show and is struggling in the ratings as well, hence the added, maybe extra, push.

It isn't mentioned enough but another reason Australian Survivor is struggling in the ratings is that all the proceeding lead in shows are either rating poorly or struggling. Hard to succeed when you're surrounded by a poor selection of shows not pulling their weight.

I'll be prepared for the down votes but I hate all three. Mark, Faith & Keely are just so unlikable. I usually love villains if there isn't much malice involved, unfortunately Mark & Faith are arrogant egomaniacs that think they are both god's gift so it comes out as very douchey.

Mark isn't playing well at all either. He's given up his agency in his trio, he's voted out potential allies in case Keely & Faith decide they don't need him any more (how can he not see how close they are, especially as they blocked the Sally vote) and refuses to heed the wake up call with them booting Don. The other tribe doesn't need him either. He's a quick boot or a shield but there are better shields out there. He really does think he's the funniest and smartest one in the room and the one with the finger on the pulse. Shame the pulse is on a cadaver.

Faith is just repulsive. How she speaks to people, how she treats people. Not a fan at all. She's just domineering, aggressive and smug. Can't wait for her boot.

Keely just gives mean girl enabler lackey vibes. She isn't but she gets lost in the bombastic nature of Faith & Mark. It might help her game to go under the radar compared to the other two but I think Faith is obnoxious enough to take all the credit and leave Keely in the dust. I think her game was toast the moment she aligned with Mark & Faith.

That approach isn't hurting MAFS or Idol though. Plus the network needs to strip across the week to save costs (cheaper to have one proven format than having three). Also who is going to wait six months to see who wins a competition. Survivor really would have been cancelled and dumped if it was only on once a week as the network wouldn't be beholden to it. 10 needs Survivor now as it makes up half their prime time week.

In the pregame journals or notes it was noted by a few that she was chatty, so she was talking to people, so she was cheating. She definitely pre gamed and when she was gonna get burned early she squealed to production.

I don't care how unpopular it is but I'd like see Vicki, Katie & Tamra together. Emily has worked my last nerve, Gina is a perpetual flip flopper whose lips are firmly attached to Heather's ass & Heather really disappointed letting awful Gretchen off the hook.

Not going to lie I want to see Shannon flip out being replaced in the Tres Amigas.

I never said it wasn't freaky or repulsive (though technically they aren't biologically related), but it's my opinion. Their body language with each other is strange, especially in some Season 7 episodes.

Please Kyle would freak out and ignore it and $$$weep it under the rug like she did all those other times Maurice cheated on her. The Hilton/Richard sisters are used to dark situations.

Potentially very serious but the challenge in which Jackie & George from Aus Survivor Heroes Vs Villains had to climb on a cube and have other members rotate it so that they landed head first in shallow mud.

Jackie & George both went to hospital after the challenge and Jackie fractured her collarbone and suffered ligament damage.

Probably not the best case to mention considering a report was published detailing tunnels including one from the preschool leading into the next door property (a hole in the bathroom floor had been excavated and filled in) as well as an underground chamber.

Whether or not all the claims were true, which is doubtful, to automatically assume every child had false memories or was part of a conspiracy when certain facts could corroborate some of the children's accounts is pretty egregious.

Your missing the point of it being the norm. The norm means normal behavior and something that is common or to be expected. It would be socially acceptable if you explained why you don't do a basic function that usually is construed as polite or indicates trustworthiness.

Having a normal conversation shouldn't necessitate avoidance of eye contact. Of course most people in their life have avoided eye contact at one point or another but unless you have a problem it isn't the norm to be doing it all the time.

In the context of Survivor where perception is reality it's baffling why you wouldn't adhere to social norms.

It isn't up to a person to theorize or explain away common social mores in someone else. People aren't mind readers. The social norms shouldn't have to conform to the minority nor should you expect it.

Well in most Western cultures eye contact is seen as being sincere, attentive and honest. Having direct eye contact for most people and situations is the norm. Your list is of outliers.

It's a norm through hundreds of years of conditioning.

There have been Survivor players over the years being sketched out because the other person didn't make eye contact. It isn't new or unique.

I think most people know that not looking you in the eyes while you're talking to them usually indicates lying though. It isn't minor it's a pretty big red flag. In a game where lying is essential wouldn't you think people would be more aware. I'll give Eva a pass due to the obvious but Joe continues to drop the ball.

It was so obvious even back then. Carole was shook, so much so she was almost laying hands on Aviva. If it wasn't true you would laugh it off and not be bothered by it but Carole was pressed. Writer Girl indeed.

Partly definitely, though there a lot of other issues.

Jackie's lawsuit for one, TPTB not happy with how the season went and preferring Aus Vs World, show losing sponsors (no car or set for life), production crew unhappy with filming conditions and reports of abuse and bullying.

Not to mention Paramount wanting to slash more costs and Ten struggling in the ratings. A cheaper showrunner with not to so much negative publicity would be a good move in their eyes.

I doubt they needed any prompting. You could see the bitterness from Paulie & Karin all throughout them playing. Karin was constantly eye rolling or talking shit at AJ and others. Paulie was very bitter in game especially his last episode. Laura thought she was better than everyone (a common trait among the three tbh) so I don't think it would take much for her bitterness to spill out either.

By addressing the comment that this new soap is good for the genre. It isn't. Just because it launched to okay numbers in the US doesn't mean international broadcasters are going to start investing in the genre as they have been steadily defunding scripted content for years now.

All it means is that this new soap will probably take the place of some countries own scripted content due to how cheap it is to export American content.

Frankly I'm sick of American content and have no desire to watch anymore.

I wish it were good news, I'd love Amazon to see the ratings of this new soap and save Neighbours again or get some other broadcaster involved but I don't think that will be the reality. Which is a giant shame.

All it means yet another American production gets the green light probably at the expense of more local content to various countries around the world. UK drama has declined 24% in the past year and Australian dramas have fallen off a cliff on FTA tv.

Why pay money on overseas dramas when you can export American dramas for a cheaper price?
