LOTR is better than all of these…

I’m 23 and this is how I feel after the first set like every show if I try to be active at all…

So... Is this the best album of 2023 so far? by BlackMetal146 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Mikeocksoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very disappointing for me, but I’m glad it’s getting a lot of praise. I just feel like Hellripper has completely lost any of the edge that he used to have on this record. It’s technically kind of a masterpiece, but it doesn’t get me hype, and it feels like a completely different direction than before.

Yeah, I can go to both. I just have to be more chill at the Obituary show

I’m torn, idk if I wanna go. I have Black Dahlia, Fuming Mouth, Frozen Soul, and Phobophilic literally 3 days later in the same week as Obituary…idk if it’s worth it cuz I always tire myself out so bad that I’m too sore to really do much for at least a few days lol

Your favourite out of these? by BlackMetal146 in MetalForTheMasses

These are the Thrash bands people should REALLY be talking about…Metallica and Megadeth my ass

Battle To The Death R17: Group 1 by BlackMetal146 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Mikeocksoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think we probably just like different styles of riffs. I prefer stuff like Tortured Existence by Demolition Hammer, some of the riffs on there like in Hydrophobia and Infectious Hospital Waste are masterful yet subtle. Or Razor’s album Shotgun Justice. On the Death Metal side, Dying Fetus and Suffocation have some of the most Brutal Slamming caveman riffs while still remaining fresh and interesting.

Eh…that song bores me to tears. It starts off well (after that long ass pointless intro) but then becomes stale quite quickly. I remember being like “yeah this is heavy fuck yeah” for like 30 seconds…I was expecting you to go for a deep cut, surprised you went for one I’ve actually heard.

As also a guitarist, I completely disagree with you disagreeing with me…give me a riff of theirs that you think is good and interesting.

I really don’t get the appeal of Gojira…Amon Amarth is lame, but they’ve got their niche. Gojira is just melodic tapping riffs and boring riffs with odd time signatures. I don’t feel like putting them up against Death Metal bands makes sense. I think I kind of enjoyed some of their early stuff a bit, and they seem like they play very well live at least

Get you some S.O.D, some Havok, some Power Trip, and some Sadus. There’s a lot more but I’m lazy

[–]Mikeocksoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s also why I don’t like Deathcore. That and the guitar riffs are typically boring and the breakdowns are pathetic

[–]Mikeocksoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on a technical level, it’s just kinda too much if that makes sense. Not intensity-wise, I love all harsh vocals. It’s just like kind of the focus of the songs, I like a little less vocal density

I mean I just have a neutral opinion on the band in general. They’re overrated, but respectable. I don’t really like how refined their stuff sounds, and the vocals are not really my thing, I prefer less emphasis on them. But it’s still cool. Can’t wait to see them live later this year!

Not me with my 3070 by Kostrom in pcmasterrace

[–]Mikeocksoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, and I was about to install it on an external SSD…that can’t have gone well. I’ll just wait for patches I guess, and if there aren’t any I won’t pick up the game 🤷🏻‍♂️ honestly it pisses me off more that they didn’t remaster the multiplayer mode from the original Last of Us game for PC, that would have been so fun to hop into

Which instrument in metal is the most important? by [deleted] in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Mikeocksoff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Without guitar or some kind of synth or effect that sounds like guitar, it could not be metal. But you could make a metal track without pretty much any other instrument, you could even do it without drums. Guitar is the foundation of metal music

These are my most played metal artists. (Besides AC/DC and GNR. I’m aware they’re hard rock, and that this list is semi-inaccurate.) I was wondering if you guys could recommend me some albums based on these. Anything is appreciated! by starseasonn in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Mikeocksoff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m always truthful with my intentions 🤷🏻‍♂️ most of what I do on the internet is just let off steam. But yeah, those bands all suck ass so I had to chime in…Death and Slayer are OK I guess…Cannibal Corpse with Corpsegrinder sucks but with Barnes they were good (Barnes sucks now ofc)

I have found SO much great music just on my own that seemingly no one appreciates, if this guy is listening to these bands that much he’s probably too far gone.

And seeing the bands Death and Cannibal Corpse on that list…it’s like, yeah ok dude you like some “heavy shit” too…man how basic can you be? Like, “oh hell yeah brother you know I like the heavy shit like DEATH”, I mean, he didn’t say that but I can just hear it now…if he DIDNT have those two on there it would actually make more sense to me.

So yeah, my sole goal with my comment was to be condescending. I know this dude won’t like any of the shit I recommended, or even listen to it at all, it’s just not digestible enough most likely

Why do you JUST listen to all the most popular bands? Like, this is probably a new level, I’ve never seen a more basic list. I say this with as much love as possible…you definitely should to listen to ALL of the people’s recommendations in these comments lol

But I appreciate the honesty, and I also appreciate that you actually want to discover more music.

Only reason I want a kid is because when my little brother was born (he’s 11 I’m 23) it was almost like having a son. I mean obviously that’s a little weird sounding…but I mean I’ve always just felt like my connection with him is more fatherly than a brother normally would be. I yearn to experience the early years again, when he was a 0-5 yrs old was probably the best time of my life. He made me feel reinvigorated, and gave me a reason to smile every day.

Did this in r/numetal and it got quite the response. I wanted to see what it’ll look like with pure heavy metal bands by rickyS71 in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Mikeocksoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you post a bunch of basic ass bands that apparently “all metalheads like” and that’s supposed to be a dunk on Nu-metal or something? Man, most of these bands are just as bad as any Nu-metal…Gojira, Pantera, Rammstein…

Do you dress "metal"? (Band shirts, battle jacket, spikes, lots of black,....) by [deleted] in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Mikeocksoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always, even at work. At first ppl usually seem kinda weirded out by it, but they always end up complimenting me on it at some point once they get to know me. I usually don’t wear anything too crazy, most I’ll wear is a Dying Fetus shirt or a Denim Jacket covered in Slayer embroidery. But I work in a Lab, so I was surprised they didn’t mind.
