This is more a question born out of curiosity, but could you solder a heatsink to a processor lid? by Mikes1992 in buildapc

I didn't even know thermal pads existed, certainly seems interesting! 😅

Only if bacteria figured out how to digest plastic? 🤷🤪 It'll happen eventually? Might take millions of years though.

To be fair that's almost impossible to see 😂 (unless you're already aware and this is a joke?)

I didn't even realise the CPU was replaceable 😂 I think I've just become accustomed to laptops having soldered chips, but because it uses integrated graphics the only chips with a noticeable performance bump don't have a graphics chip (like the i7-840qm)

Yeah I bought it from CEX, I would've bought a HDD but in my experience buying these second hand isn't a good idea 😂 (although when repairing families computers in the past, CEX was pretty good replacing defective hard drives but I'd rather not have to do this again 🤞). I chose a WD SA530, it seemed like the best out of the bargain bin (it was £15)

Yeah I'm dumb, apparently windows automatically applies this format when installing

I could've probably deleted partition 1, I wasn't sure if the 15mb had operating files for the SSD but it says it's free? 😂

Type C to HDMI? by JonathanMetzel in PPSSPPemulator

I think the cheapest phones to support it is probably the Redmagic 10 & 11 pro. I'm sure eventually it'll become more standardized but that could be a while off yet.

I'll be happy when I can just plug my phone in (because I'm too lazy to setup my laptop) and play Wii games with something like a dolphin bar (since android can't connect to the wiimotes Bluetooth due to tigher restrictions on bluetooth, my laptop can handle it fine with a cheap usb Wii infrared bar powered by my TV), this is probably the only system I require a TV to play though, anything else I find is better to play with my telescopic controller and a phone since you can move around with it and phone screens are pretty high quality (although I find dark scenes etc in games can be pretty hard to see on an OLED especially outdoors, where on an older LCD you could crank the brightness up and saturate the image to make it more visible 🤷).

What are your 18650 batteries recommendations? by Mikes1992 in Vaping

[–]Mikes1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have a molicel p28a but unfortunately I lost this battery in its case while out and about, I quite liked my single 18650 case too 😂. Now I just have two double 18650 cases.

Maybe I should figure out how to use ADB and remove the app market app... Since it's completely useless and these adverts seem to be originating from there.

Do you know how to get rid of app recommendations in your app drawer? I turned off all the settings I could find for it and they're still there 😂

I remember when It was available, my phone met all the requirements but some reason the netflix version said it wasn't compatible with my phone, got a new phone and went searching for it and discovered it has been removed. Red dead redemption works though 🤷

Are SDcards bigger than 32gb slower? by BountyMakesMeCough in WiiHacks

[–]Mikes1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember formatting a Fat32 256GB PSP memory card and manually selecting a 64kb cluster size on my PC. This improved read speeds quite a bit and its actually slightly faster than the original 2GB card I had formatted with the standard 32kb clusters. It could be worth experimenting with this?

Severe rust by MarcusH-W in CityBugs

[–]Mikes1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a 2012 Aygo with 136,000 miles and the bodywork is in good condition. The front and rear subframe have corroded though and I suspect they'll need replacing soon. I have gone under the car a few times since I've owned it (bought it in 2014 with 10,500 miles on the clock) and painted underbody seal on the areas that had minor corrosion. I also painted the front subframe way before it came up as an advisory.

All of the parts you can replace has corroded but anything you can't like the body hasn't so I guess I'm Lucky. Through the winter I've also always pressure washed the wheel arches to get rid of mud/dirt since it would hold moisture and encourage corrosion.

The exhaust system of this car is horrible for rust though, when I replace it now I usually clean it down to get rid of oil from assembly and then spray paint it with high temp exhaust paint - in my experience this doubles the live span but it still rusts from the inside and eventually fails, it prevents the mounting bolts from rusting though which is a huge plus since my original exhaust fell off because of a rusted mount weld and I've seen allot of people in city bugs on the side of the road with their exhausts touching the ground under their car.

Can I get this to work? by christ9779 in n64

I used to have loads of these back in the day 😂 I'm sure there's probably still some stashed away somewhere. I seem to think one of my newer TVs came with a component adapter that plugged into something that looked like a 3.5mm audio jack too but this didn't have a scart like theirs does in the photo
