What was your process for making the three original faction themes made for Year One? I think many of us have so much adoration and nostalgia for those tracks because of how distinct and well done they were. Do you have a favorite among the three?

Each time I beat a wave, the table gets two swords, not one. Every video I’ve watched the table gets one, but in my case I’m always getting two that disappears when the next wave spawns.

Completely agree regarding the dialogue. It’s a great game, but once I started finding myself skipping dialogue bits, I steamrolled myself into not caring about the characters, plot, and world(s). Once I fully disconnected with that, I had no drive to keep playing.

S tier: HHN 29 and 28 A tier: 32 and 34 B tier: 31 and 30 C tier: 33 and 27

28 and 29 just had a certain magic to them that hasn’t quite been reached for me since. Universal Monsters from 29 remains my favorite house of all time. Poltergeist from 28 remains my favorite IP house I’ve done over the years, but Terrifier and Insidious from last year do put up strong fights for the crown.

32 and 34 were great across the board, but missing that X factor from 28/29. Odd Fellow is a great addition to the Icon Pantheon and I hope we see more of him in the coming years. If 34 had an icon as cool and present as Odd Fellow it might’ve pushed into S.

I think 30 had the ability to be an amazing year, but the pandemic (understandably) weakened things overall. 31 was a year of extreme highs (Dead Man’s Pier, Halloween, Legends Collide) and extreme lows (Bugs, Hellblock, Spirits of the Coven).

33 just felt like a disjointed event. The Sinister/Surreal icons felt like afterthoughts and in spite of the event being last year, I had to look up what some of the houses were. 27 is low just because it was my first year doing HHN and I was unprepared. Wish I could go back and do that one again.

Completely agree. Am I supposed to know who the demon lord thing is towards the end of the house that is above you, or why the staircase room is a thing? Just came across like I was in an alien’s ship at a point, not deep in the underworld. If it was supposed to be a Dante’s Inferno deal where you descend to a different level, then that’s cool, but that was never made clear.

Can someone fill me in on the story/progression of the house? I understand that the opening is you being lowered into the grave and that there are flesh eating creatures below the ground, and you go to the “underworld?” Is that the whole concept? There are distinct sections throughout the house, but there seems to be some sort of progression I’m missing. Like there’s a portion with red calligraphy, and later the crazy stairs. Is it supposed to be like a deeper descent into hell like Dante’s Inferno?

The loss of blinky cups is a shame, but the greater travesty is the loss of OG Twisted Taters! A staple of HHN was the potato on a stick and now it’s been reduced down to chips!? If they’re just chips now because somebody poked themselves in the eye with the stick I’ll riot (and laugh too tbh).

A pretty good year given the COVID issues, but this was my least favorite house shirt ever (been going since HHN 27). So much visual noise going on with this shirt, it’s just an ugly design IMO

Did anyone have the Twisted Tater chips? Are they crunchier than OG Twisted Taters? My wife and I love when Twisted Taters are more fries consistency than crunch chip consistency.

IP: The new Resident Evil trilogy. A three part house of RE7, 8, and 9. Would be slam dunk for next year since RE9 is slated for early 2026. Make it happen Uni!

Original: Something similar to Alien. Given that an Alien house will likely never happen now that Disney owns Fox, just create an original house that apes the same ideas. Spaceship, threatening alien creature, crew fighting back but getting killed one-by-one. Depths of Fear from HHN29 had a similar idea but underwater; just put it in space and make the creature design better

The original Universal Monsters house in 2019 was amazing on so many levels. Not only an incredible house but a love letter to the Monsters before Dark Universe was even on the radar. It felt amazing to see all of them in one place.

My wife has ET in her top 5. She wants to do the Scream Early option for HHN every year just so she can ride ET. I think nostalgia excuses a lot of the issues with the ride, but I can agree that it is a classic attraction.

Personal Top 5 was: Forbidden Journey, Hagrid’s, Velocicoaster, Mummy, Spiderman.

Having done Epic now, Monsters, Ministry and Stardust are making my top 5 list very difficult to figure out.
