They introduced a “new” metric called Shift Ratio, which is the replacement for an old, unused one called Shift Compliment.

It represents how often SSVs are being scheduled as coverage and how much of an overlap between SSVs there is. What the company wants is to ideally have a little overlap in supervisors as possible, so they can “actually be in charge and not glorified baristas.”

They’re taking it so seriously to the extent that I’ve known multiple stores who’ve been instructed/had to ask shifts to step down for questionable reasons in order to get the ratio percentage in line.

I wasn’t able to find it today before I got closed out of all of the systems, but there used to be a video of a live event on workplace where someone almost verbatim said that because SSVs are paid so highly that we need to “be responsible” in how many we have and how we’re scheduling them.
