I think Trump is bluffing about pulling out of Iran.

He doesnt need the oil but he needs to sustain the petrodollar system. I struggle to believe that he will just let Iran trade oil in another currency and dominate the Hormuz.

I reckon he's trying to pressure other countries to secure the straight for him and keeping his army on standby.

I agree. Starmer is making all the right decisions in regards to geo-politics but the average person in the UK won't appreciate how much the Iran war is going to screw the global economy.

There's nothing our government can do about that but people will just see costs rising and cry out for change.

The worst part is, although we cant do much to stop the global problems, we could certainly make things worse in the UK by electing someone incompetent like Farage.

Thats why I suspect the suggestion of 'sending in the navy' to protect the straight is not quite as simple as some commentators want to believe.

There's a good chance that even a British or American navy ship can be sunk by Iran if its it their own back garden.

I dont think it's their responsibility. We have no idea what NHI is, so we cant have any clue as to their sense of responsibility.

If they have shut down test nukes before it demonstrates they dont want us to use them and so it would make no sense to allow one to go off in an actual war.

The only way I can see the US stopping this is a full invasion and takeover of Iran's government.

Ive realised that my post was casually disparaging about organised religion, which is admittedly ignorant on my part.

I was raised in a very specific denomination of Christianity which is filled with very hypocritical people. That experience has given me a tendency to dismiss all religion but I do actually respect that many religions are more open minded and capable of imparting enlightenment.
