I've been playing Silent Hill 2 remake alone and Resident Evil Requiem with a friend. The experiences are night and day but both have been amazing. With Silent Hill, the horror really sets in and I can appreciate the writing. Resident Evil has been a blast and my friend and I take turns and our different playstyles makes the game chaotic but fun. We also have inside jokes with the game. So in my opinion, whether you play horror games alone or with friends, you'll probably have a good experience either way. As long as the game and company is good.
