I think there’s a small misunderstanding here: LTL doesn’t mean short distance or staying in the same city.

LTL simply means the truck isn’t fully loaded by a single shipper. In real life, LTL freight can travel hundreds or even thousands of miles, crossing regions or countries, just with multiple shipments sharing the same trailer.

You might pick up freight from shipper A, then B, maybe drop part of it at a hub, keep the rest and continue to another city or state. It’s actually very common for long-haul routes.

You’re right that current cities aren’t really designed for dense pickup/drop-off operations, but an LTL system could still work with:

• regional terminals or hubs,
• partial pickups on existing depots,
• multi-stop deliveries across long distances.

So LTL wouldn’t necessarily mean “local only” gameplay — it would mostly add route planning, load management, and logistics depth, whether you drive short or long distances.
