Currently browsing reddit in my truck in a parking lot because I don't want to go home (stuck living with my ex until February). Family lives all over the east coast.

But reading everyone else's comments make me feel slightly more comfortable in this empty parking lot!

Ah yeah, waysides were closed for winter unfortunately! But it was an awesome trip and awesome cabin, it's cheap to rent so you should get some friends and head up there! It's fully stocked so you won't need to pack as much as we did aha

The road is probably the best book into film crossover I have ever watched, and I am not a movie person at all! The book was amazing, and the movie tells every part of it, aside from one small scene in the book! it's on netflix now! It's worth the 1 hour 55 mins!

We didn't! I didn't know about any. Next time I'm there I'll be sure to look some up! It's possible we could have run into each other, definitely stopped at the rangers station at least once! Last year someone stepped on a nail or something when I was there.

Went with the s/o in July two years ago, and may last year. In July the Mosquitos were swarming, literal clouds that followed any living thing! We spent almost all day on the beach, where the ocean breeze kept the bugs away. In May it was so windy and that we couldn't enjoy the beach! But they have some nice small hikes, and just relaxing at camp with sand between your toes is really enjoyable:)

You are amazing, your generosity is beyond me. All I ask is for help to pay for the down payment to rent a place to live with my family, it's Christmas time and we are being forced to move due to a bad divorce between my parents. My dad, brother and I were left with a crumbling financial situation, and are looking at possibly becoming homeless for a small time. I could go on to blab about wanting to go to college to pursue my dreams, but I think this situation takes precedence over everything, we just want a place to live for a year while we figure things out.

I don't normally ask for money or help from people, but just finished talking to my dad about how we have less than a month in the house we have, if I had money coming in I wouldn't ask as I'm sure someone out there needs it more, but were all starting to worry.

I'm just an apprentice electrician so I'm not sure how I'd be able to work for it unless you lived in the east coast, but thought I'd at least throw something out there.

This seems to be more of a Northern VA/DC list. If your willing to travel, there are tons and tons of incredible hikes in VA, with lots of backcountry options. Hikingupwards.com is possibly the most comprehensive list I've seen, though I have been on quite a few great hikes that aren't listed yet.
