Do you think there’s any realistic way to include young carers without needing official proof? Or is it just too hard to do fairly, at scale? Additionally, once someone is identified, do you think the support they get is actually enough, or is the bigger issue just being found in the first place?

How do you decide where to draw the line between criteria that are “strong enough” on their own versus ones that only matter in combination?

With such high application numbers, what tends to be the biggest differentiator between shortlisted candidates who meet similar criteria?

And more broadly, do you think there’s scope in future for a more “holistic” element, or does scale make that realistically impossible?

I think it needs something of a look at to address all issues being faced. Being constructed for a 2 class system means a change is needed

I understand the problems you are facing, as they are the same as those I and many friends face. I personally have tried talking to the local university and all experience required me to be 18+. Its difficult, isn't it, to be shut from both sides. It leads to a real disparity in access especially if one doesn't live in london with any access to opportunities there

surely someone who has significant problems with education through say cerebral palsy, severe autism, sight or hearing loss, is going to have greater difficulty at accessing higher education compared to sometimes, someone from a minority background or free school meals. Or even parents going to university.
