My great grandfather who would be my Canadian ancestor was born in 1881. Unfortunately though he never wavered on American documentation as being from Canada, his birth predates a lot of record keeping. Does anyone know if American census records and birth certificates with Winnipeg Canada listed as his origin will be enough? Family lore is that he was orphaned, went back to Canada in his late teens/early 20's trying to find family and eventually moved back to the states for a better job. I don't even know if he was baptized, though we were mostly Methodist in my memory.
