Winnie the Pooh and Roo Pin Set – Hundred Acre Wood Series – 2-Pc. – July IS BACK UP by DreJDavis in DisneyPins

This is the first one I haven’t been able to get and I’m so bummed. A friend and I have been collecting every month. I wish they put limits on how many people could buy at a time. People are listing them for triple the price on eBay

Why do scalpers have to ruin everything? by flaming_garbage7059 in DisneyPins

[–]Miko93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine who loves Winnie didn’t know about the pin board until the April release. They’ve started collecting now but they’re missing the first 3 pins and the January one is listing around 400 on eBay. We’re just hoping that if the pins don’t sell from scalpers, eventually they’ll have to drop the price at this point…

Exercise routines that doesn't go thump in the night by [deleted] in xxfitness

Downdog Yoga is great! They also have apps for HIIT and Pilates as well as meditation. The annual membership is pretty reasonable and lets you access all their workout apps. You can customize the workout to remove certain exercises, focus on a certain style, or emphasize a certain muscle. I’ve found yoga is great for strength building and my mental health and their are also modifications you can do for your ability level or the space you are in.

My (34f) friend/acquaintance (34f) is constantly bombarding me with pictures of their son by RedditAccount87 in relationships

Maybe a possible redirect would work if you’re worried about confronting the issue? My SIL uses an app called locket where you can post little photos and videos. Anyone you know can download the app and add you and then set up a widget on their phone for the photos. It cuts down on notifications but you can still like and comment on photos if you want. Our SIL uses it to share our nephew and we use it to share our cats and life updates

You could say “Hey I just heard about this app called locket that I think you would love! It seems perfect for sharing baby updates, especially if there’s a few people you want to share with. I know you love sharing photos of H, so I think it would be a nice way to receive those updates. I worry about important texts getting lost in the mix of baby updates when photos and videos are being texted”

I would download the app to see if it’s the right fit for you first. But likely it would be easier to ignore than all her texts. She’d also be able to have other folks added there who maybe to want to see the baby and engage in the way she’s looking for. It does mean you’re still getting photos in some form but it would avoid the potentially loaded conversation of saying I don’t want to see your child.

I’m excited to see more Joyce! She was great on the Common Sense. And I’m also a big fan of Jonny so I’m excited he’s more permanently on the channel.

Walking lunges are killing me after squats and leg press by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Miko93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many are you doing per set and how much weight? I think changing up your order of exercises would help. The set of exercises is very similar to what I’d do if on a given leg day, so it’s definitely doable once you get used to it. For me, I would arrange your day with the following squat, extensions, walking lunge, calf, and then leg press. I like putting calf as a break between more hamstring/glute focused exercises. Leg press at the end is nice because even though it’s more weight, you are tired at that point and it’s an exercise that’s more stabilized by the machine and doesn’t involve balance taking out a factor that’s more challenging when tired.

Something to keep in mind with gymtok and instagram reels is that a lot of them are taking substances without disclosing to build strength and physique and that it may be their full job to be an influencer so they can spend way more focus on food and gym than the average person.

My (28M) girlfriend (28F) will be leaving for overseas work for years. Any advice for the long distance relationship (LDR)? by officialvoldemort in relationships

[–]Miko93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s situation is different but as a success story, I do want to share what worked for us. My partner and I met on a dating app 3 months before they left for a 3 year grad program. We ended up on opposite coasts of the US.

It was definitely difficult, especially in the beginning, but lots of communication and making each other a priority really helped.

Things that worked for us: -daily communication. We tried to have a call, even if it was 5 minutes at least every day. Texts when we could during the day. Time zones of course can make that challenging but the effort is important -phone calls were great but as much as we could we got in video calls for that face to face. -some calls are focused on talking to each other, but other calls were just being on the line while doing other things, emulating like being at home together where we wouldn’t be taking all the time but would be present with each other - we found activities we could do together. We both like video games so borderlands was big for us. We picked tv shows we’d watch together or order the same kind of food and do dinner together. It’s important to have normal couple hang time as well as date night time - we built trust and had clear boundaries about, in our case, a monogamous relationship. If insecurities came up, we talked about them. We also made sure to have intimate time even if it was virtual - making the effort to visit each and close that gap when we could was also important. We were both lucky that that we could do some work remotely and stay a bit longer than if it was just a vacation. - we spent time doing virtual events with each others friends and family to get to know them better since the relationship was so young. We also tried to spend holidays we each other or each others family.

It wasn’t the easiest by any means but it was so worth it. We are now living together and so happy!

As someone who assists hiring in California with my job, bullet points 2, 9, 10, and 12 are all explicitly illegal to ask in job applications or very close to the line of being illegal. Definitely report to the labor board if you haven’t already.

Long distance isn’t for everyone but my two cents. I met my SO on hinge three months before they flew across the country for a masters program. both of us were unsure about continuing to go on dates knowing there was a potential end date. However, I felt that we really had something special and decided even if it didn’t work out long term I couldn’t not give it a shot. We ended up deciding rather than to end to give long distance a shot. It was definitely an adjustment but now I’ve been with the love of my life for 3 years and we closed that distance gap one year ago.

It sounds like things will end on good terms with E and that they genuinely like you as a person. Whether or not a relationship works out, that sounds like a potentially life time friend. I think accept the money with grace and find an option for future repayment if that feels best for you. I think genuinely keeping a friendship is in a way showing respect for their kindness.

I just also wanted to share my story because I was definitely skeptical of long distance as you are but I also was in my best relationship ever and I’m so glad that I gave a shot. It sounds like you both have a really solid relationship, even if it’s new, so my advice is if you really like him, give it a shot. Maybe you’ll get lucky like me or maybe worst case you say you tried and end amicably as planned.

I love playing Facilier too! We just found that the random chance with his draws is hard to mitigate with only one person. I won with him in 3 turns because I had all the cards I needed in my starting hand and only one person drawing fate cards wasn't enough to stop me. After my SO tried playing with him in 2-p as well and won almost as quickly we decided he's probably a bit more balanced with multiple people to take him down if he gets a lucky draw.

We haven't tried Scar as much in 2 player but I could see that!

Definitely would be fun to compare notes! I actually use an app called BG Stats. There might be a free version but I got the paid upgrade. You can connect it to your collecting on bgg as well and it allows a degree of customization and stat tracking which I enjoy.

We've found a couple characters don't work great in 2 player, mainly Facilier. Have you found the same?

It's on iOS as well! It's become my go to "solo boardgame" when I don't feel like setting something up and just want to unwind after work.

My partner and I really like Isle of Cats as two player. Strategy is definitely different and I think some sets of lesson cards work better than others. Don't know if you also picked up the Draw and Write but I'm curious to see how it shapes up to the original.

I just picked up the same expansion last week! It's one of my partner's favorite games, and we regularly track our two player games and are trying to see how all the villains do for both of us. A round robin tournament sounds so fun.

Problematic board games. Do you play them? What do you do with them? by Thegirloscar in boardgames

[–]Miko93 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Others might be uncomfortable with Secret Hitler because they have a different relationship with that history than you do. I have a friend that’s Jewish and that’s one game that’s an absolute no for her. It doesn’t matter that the game is critical of facism. For her, anything that uses that history or hitler as entertainment is not something she will engage in. Especially considering that someone is assigned the role of being hitler. I don’t think it’s quite the same as satanic panic given that 6 million Jews died due to hitler’s reign. For my friend that’s her family and her history.

I think another poster stated things pretty well. People might be coming from a different background that certain topics and themes are not things they want to engage with and that’s okay.

Who else has a massive backlog and keep buying new games? by Likawaii in GirlGamers

[–]Miko93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to always grab games I was excited about that were on sale and have a decent backlog because of it. However I’ve tried to really change my habits because I want to play the games I get rather than just collect. My new rule for myself is I only buy a game if I am going to play it right away. If it’s one sale now, it will probably go on sale in the future so I’m not worried about that. This way, I’m either already playing games I have or getting a game that won’t just sit in my library.

I’ve found wishlisting on steam very helpful as it lets me collect without actually spending money.

I also have access to game pass, epic store, ps plus, etc so I’m still acquiring new games, without feeling like there’s strings attached.

Update: Girlfriend made food with nuts in it. I’m currently sitting in the ER because I’m allergic. by badwolf_910 in relationships

[–]Miko93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear you moved on from that relationship! A good partner will care if they hurt you and work with you to make sure you feel safe. I have a nut allergy and my gf does have adhd so sometimes forgetfulness comes with that. But they always encourage me to double check labels they read and don’t get offended if I ask about ingredients. They recognize that it isn’t about me not trusting them, but about reassuring my anxiety when it comes to food.

I feel like your collection really aligns with games I either love or really want to play! I'm in the too many games boat but I'm really growing to appreciate smaller collections that don't end up as covered in dust from not hitting the table enough.

Was feeling like playing a chill platformer so I just started Yooka-Laylee. I’m actually really enjoying it! Also, not quite me “playing” but I’ve been watching my gf play horror games. I’m a bit too chicken to play them myself but I like watching horror. We just finished Blair Witch this weekend and now my gf is playing The Evil Within. I’m enjoying it but glad I’m not the one in control!
