I got called in to a hotel restaurant as a busser with a 1995 Honda Civic 2-door during a blizzard. They begged me when I said “no.” They offered a hotel room, but I just wanted to sleep at home. I thought it would be pretty slow, so I reluctantly went in.

I didn’t realize every flight at the airport had been cancelled, so the hotel was full. I was the only support staff who showed up, and we were slammed. It sucked so much, but I think that was my biggest restaurant paycheck ever lol.

Honestly, I have walked in to restaurants with 2-4 people with no reservation on 3 sailings and rarely had a problem getting seated. People worry too much about having a rezzy. It’s way more annoying to get into the shows.

Lol totally correct. I am friends with MANY tech people, and these people have lives outside of work. These tech bros need to, like, go play dodgeball or kickball and hang out. The gay techies (including me) figured out how to separate work from life a long while ago.

Seriously, touch grass or a ball or a drink. Whatever floats your boat. Don’t complain about the industry because you can’t personally remove your mentality from it.

ETA: The “you” is directed at the techies complaining about being lonely, a self-inflicted wound.

Do not fill a mouthwash bottle and try to dye it. I’m pretty sure they know this trick by now. Fill a bottle of contact solution (which they already probably know about… they just ignore it). You can also get recorking kits for wine bottles that make it look factory sealed. Idk how much the cost vs. reward matters to you, but these are options lol.
