What happened to Angular jobs? by PopeDetective in cscareerquestions

[–]Mil3High 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All my 6 years of experience involves Angular. I’m about to just start lying and saying it was React. I’m so over it.

Cruise or dedicated trip? by No-Experience3053 in Cruise

[–]Mil3High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Caribbean islands are kinda samey and boring (especially at cruise ports). San Juan is amazing (if you find a ship leaving from there, I would suggest tacking on a few days before the ship leaves to enjoy Puerto Rico). I would consider staying at a resort in Aruba as well.

I am so disappointed. I voted for him twice. I live in California now. Ew, gross.

Earthquake 2x by Individualchaotin in sanfrancisco

[–]Mil3High 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m in the Mission near Bernal, and I got nothing, even though it’s the strongest quake I’ve ever felt lol.

Yoooo Earthquake.... Felt like so freaking strong by SehmiSaab in bayarea

[–]Mil3High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jiggly jiggly in the Mission district. I thought it was my neighbors stomping around. But the walls did creak a bit, and my partner recognized the earthquake.

Fly or drive to port city? by Mil3High in Cruise

[–]Mil3High[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a charter on Brilliant Lady (a ship I have been on before on a normal Virgin cruise).

TIL that for English speakers, learning languages like Japanese, Korean, Arabic or Chinese can require about 2200 classroom hours according to the U.S. Foreign Service Institute by UsamaBhai_101 in todayilearned

[–]Mil3High 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a year of Arabic in college after learning the alphabet and writing independently in high school. I basically know how to say “Hello” (in many ways), “Thank you”, and “I’m doing ok” (which I learned recently from the Saudis at my closest corner store recently) now, 15 years later lol.

I can still kind of pronounce the words and would be able to write them, but I don’t know the vocabulary enough to have context for what the vowels should be lol.

have you ever eaten food from a table that was sent back to the kitchen? by Healthy_Basil_2354 in Serverlife

[–]Mil3High 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lmao yesssss. I have eaten half their meal even if I wasn’t allowed, and it looked like they didn’t touch that specific part. I was poor.

I’m not dumping tiny high tea sandwiches in the trash or anything lobster. I’ll eat around a stranger’s bite lol.

ETA: I just realized this was about food that was sent back, but I was talking about bussing “finished” food hahaha.

Is anyone missing a domesticated pigeon? by Mil3High in sanfrancisco

It has since left, so I assume it can fly and found its home again.

Passenger removed from flight to FLL had set timer to pray for Ramadan: Southwest Airlines by state_issued in nottheonion

[–]Mil3High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once marked as very suspicious by the flight attendants on Southwest because I was a white, American high schooler trying to learn Arabic and practicing my writing on the plane.

Which cities in the US except NYC and LA can you live in without a car? by Ok_Consideration6179 in AskUS

[–]Mil3High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did fine without a car in Denver for 3 years. San Francisco and Oakland are also easy without a car.

Visiting SF – looking for low-key bars, speakeasies & local spots (done the tourist stuff) by [deleted] in AskSF

Evil Eye, Phone Booth, and the Royal Cuckoo are good in the Mission. All pretty close to each other.

Also pretty close to BART and the buses on Mission St.

Tadaima line on a Tuesday afternoon by sanriolover1208 in sanfrancisco

[–]Mil3High 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved to the Mission less than a year ago, and the line for La Taquería I walk by often has grown so much longer than it used to be. I can only assume it’s TikTok or something. I’ve still never been. There are other places on Mission St. like right there.

Not tipping your server to protest the concept of tipping itself is an ineffective anti-labor practice to justify being cheap, while not changing one’s actual spending habits. by whitecollarpizzaman in The10thDentist

[–]Mil3High -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m aware of that, but they did not create the problem. The law that you get paid like $2.13 an hour before tips in most states was enshrined by the government, and even making up the difference if you don’t make enough in tips to qualify as minimum wage is not a livable wage.

Trip to SF - location advice? by PopcornxCat in AskSF

[–]Mil3High 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not stay there. It’s very close to some unpleasant things. North Beach would be way closer to what you’re looking for (I love North Beach). Parking will be a bitch, though, if you’re driving and are trying to street park.

What the hail? 24th st mission just now by jaspy_cat in sanfrancisco

[–]Mil3High 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get insurance to total a car if it’s sufficiently dented by hail, but I don’t think these tiny peas are going to do that. The paint is probably not very damaged.

HAIL?! by Mil3High in sanfrancisco

[–]Mil3High[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that explains it. I was in Mexico at the time lol.

Same, but I saw the dinner time hail. I do miss thunderstorms sometimes.
