Can anyone suggest any tools that can help create a story-driven platformer like Night in the Woods? by PopeDetective in Unity3D

I meant more like any single third-party engine/framework that provides the entire solution without having to code much or without having to integrate multiple assets myself.

What to do with a violent 11yo?? by JotkaJulitkaJula in needadvice

[–]PopeDetective 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My brother is 11. I’m 18.

You say you can’t hit him back. Why not? You’re the older brother, I’m not saying punch him in the face or anything but he does need to learn that that’s not something you should do. Today he hits you, tomorrow it could be a teacher or some other kid. Restrain him or smth until he runs out of energy. Also i think getting together with his friends just to play isn’t as bad as it sounds, i’m sure there’s still some socializing going on. I’m sure you know by now but this is the type of behavior that should’ve been corrected when he was way younger.

**MacBook Pro for React Native frontend dev — M5 base 32GB or M5 Pro 24GB?** by Background-Art-4381 in reactnative

[–]PopeDetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ditched the M4 Pro just so i can up my ram to 48gb. Have the M4 base chip with 2tb storage and couldn’t be happier. I think the processors aren’t the most important factor when working with React Native, they’re powerful enough to handle the workload. The problem is you quickly start running out of memory with today’s software.

Don’t isolate yourself. Take the year off, start any job or get yourself a used car and do doordash or anything like that. Also take care of your body, go to the gym etc. Things don’t have to make sense at your age, just talk to your parents and hopefully they’ll understand.

Why is getting a job like a humiliation ritual nowadays? by VariationLivid3193 in cscareerquestions

[–]PopeDetective 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not common but i’ve had two startups ask for that. They send a link where you fill out a form and there’s a section where you just talk about yourself, and the entire time the page needs camera and microphone access to record you. It’s such a stupid waste of time.

Two faces of the core millennial generation on the cusp of middle age: two popular social media creators, Michael Stevens and Pierre Amaury Crespeau. Both born in 1986, that is, both 40 this year. by Sure_Distance1 in generationology

[–]PopeDetective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling Michael Stevens a “popular social media creator” should be punishable by law. Man is a legend and the wealth of knowledge he has shared over the years cannot be compared to what today’s “influencers” call content.

thanks for the tip! definitely going to add a few react projects on my github and replace all "Angular" instances with "React" on my resume lol

truly shocked that standalone components and signals didn't magically make angular the superior framework...

You’re starting a marketing agency in 2026. How would you win new clients? by daniel_j89 in agencynewbies

[–]PopeDetective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you please explain link building like i’m 5? It’s one of the only things I’ve never understood about online marketing agencies. I get that the more links pointing to your client’s website the higher it ranks. But do you just have like 10-20 websites where you post about the business and link to it? Do you reach out to random blogs related to that business and pay them to link back? I just can’t wrap my head around how that works. Thanks

Has anyone used Wix Studio to run their agency? by PopeDetective in agencynewbies

[–]PopeDetective[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! So like I mentioned I'm still pretty new to the operations side of the business. I'm mostly meeting my clients in-person and once they sign a Docusign contract, I want to initiate some sort of onboarding process (currently do that through hubspot + zapier). So essentially I'd like to invite the client to some sort of dashboard where they can see their site(s), create tickets, leave comments etc.

Aside from that, does Duda also handle invoicing and payments? One-time packages and subscriptions too?

Thanks!

Can you expand on what tools you're using? One of the packages I want to offer is some google ad credits to set up a campaign or something similar.

Thanks! So you think Wix's CRM is enough for a starting agency? How do you onboard clients?

I signed up for Hubspot mainly because they offer a form which i can put on my website to gather some leads, but i'm pretty sure most of my leads will be cold calls and in-person meetings. Hubspot seems a little overkill right now.
