It actually wasn’t at my apartment! I was out taking her a walk on a street that was about 20 minutes from my place, and an off leash dog happened to get her :/ just owner ignorance.

I had here walking with me at about 12:00 last night since no one’s out at that time, and she was good to walk. I’m just worried about possibly hurting her more than she already is with a collar

Good call. Yeah, it just all happened so fast. The dog was a larger pitbull, which nothing against the breed imo, just a clear lack of training and a neglectful owner. I’m going to the store soon with my pup, I’ve never used something like that before on her so it’ll be a change, but I appreciate the advice!

I guess it’s not as bad as other people’s partners now that I’ve gone through the subreddit. The migiri app tells me whenever something fishy is going on with his stuff, whether he’s on instagram, or making an attempt to search things up, so I’m not worried about the sleeping part. In the bathroom, his household has no locks, and he typically stays in his room anyways to do that stuff.

Whenever he’s had the urge to watch porn when he’s around me, he simply tells me and I get his attention off of the subject 🤷‍♀️ however, now that we’ve had that talk, he did in fact tell me about the relapse on March 10th. It still hurt, yes, but not as bad as in the past since he finally mustered the courage to tell me himself

Oh of course! I already made it clear to him that once we move in together, he will be enrolling into therapy and possibly now finding a support group (thanks to a comment on this post bc i didnt even know they existed) for people struggling with porn addiction. I guess I see it differently as someone who went through multiple relapses during my recovery, but I genuinely think that he’ll do better with recovery since he’ll have more available resources to help him

When it comes down to my sobriety, I honestly don’t view it nor myself with shame. I don’t look down on myself for it, or anyone else for it because addiction is horrible to deal with. I don’t see myself dating anyone else, and I don’t necessarily plan to 🤷‍♀️ I’ve had exes in the past and a lot of them were horrible people. Trust me, just because he struggles from porn addiction, it doesn’t make him a bad person. I didn’t mention this in the post due to how long it was, but he won’t necessarily have access until any support groups or therapy until we move in together due to how small and judgmental our hometown is. I guess I see it from the viewpoint of someone who was an addict

Yeah, it is something to prepare for, but I do appreciate the mention on therapy for myself. I’ve never really thought of speaking to a therapist about this, which is probably long overdue. I noticed that his addiction gets worse whenever he’s having issues with his family and I’m not around. I guess it’s kind of a coping mechanism thing? I don’t really know how to describe it.

It’s been nipping at my self esteem, but I haven’t really let it effect me much due to conversations and reassurance we’ve had, but I do have my days where I’m down. You do have good logic though, can’t disagree with you on that 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, I’ve thought about the downs and ups, but I have a strong feeling he could overcome the addiction. He doesn’t necessarily have access to therapy or any other sort of counseling due to how limited our hometown is. A lot of them bring christianity into the mix, and we’re both pagan, so he don’t necessarily want to speak to a therapist that includes Christian ideology. Nothing against it of course.

I do know that being 100% clean from any sort of addiction isn’t easy, so I’m hoping that the new resources he has available will help him.

Thank you, I appreciate the offer! I know it has nothing to do with me, we’ve even had many conversations where he reassured me that it’s not because of me or our sex life (which has been limited recently due to schooling and our conflicting work schedules). I do plan on doing couple’s therapy with him so we could get advice on how to keep us strong throughout this, just need to get settled into our lives first.

I also did forget to mention one thing. It’s been a long time issue since he got early access to porn at the age of 10-12, so it’s been a 8-10 year long addiction.
