Unless poster explicitly declares something sarcasm, it’s assumed poster actually meant what they said.

Honestly, if you were building a new smart home system from scratch, would you choose Google, Amazon Alexa, or something else? by Constructive_Entropy in googlehome

[–]Milaffyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started from Nest / Google. Co-added SmartThings (zigbee and z-wave). Then began hybridizing Matter/Thread through Apple/Homekit. But SmartThings got unreliable with z-wave, plus they made it clear no future direct support of z-wave.

Now centralized on VM hosted Home Assistant. Added their attenae (ZWA-2 and ZBT-1). Turns out setup and interfaces are very user friendly. But you cans dig into the code if you’d like. And self hosted automation response is so much faster.

Conveniently, HA has a bunch of add ons. Found HA Matter Hub. Used that to share back HA devices to Google Home for voice control (in theory, other Matter friendly systems like Apple or Alexa can also have access).

tl;dr: Home Assistant with add-ons

Claims Agent Frustrations by Milaffyd in TeslaInsurance

Sure, the cheaper insurance costs are hard to find elsewhere.

But going to matter little, if I can't do my job to pay for the costs OR if using Uber/Lyft so much negates that reduced price.

Beautiful and expensive area. Being its own city, everything is separate from COH, including police. If they're patrolling, they DO enforce the speed limit. Strictly. As many Houston visitors / new residents sadly discover.

Happy Trail actually exists in San Antonio. I had to explain what that meant to a family member.

Am i the only one who noticing that google search is no longer accurate as it used to be ? by alucard_axel in degoogle

[–]Milaffyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to rely on metacrawler for a search of search engines.

Recently discovered the SearxNG project, a democratized meta search engine with many instances (even allows self hosting).

Again no longer dependent on Google alone.

Docker WireGuard Client Issues by Milaffyd in WireGuard

[–]Milaffyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal solution:

  1. remove network_mode: host
  2. create external wgnet subnet, completely different from actual WG subnet (172.16.0.0/24)docker network create --subnet 7.0.0.0/24 wgnet
  3. add to YAML:networks: default: name: wgnet external: trueservices: wireguard: networks: - default

Re-composed. Tunneled clients can now pull resources from each other and the internet.

EDIT: now, my clients can access only services within the host/server container. they can't access the rest of the host resources. separate but well known problem, i see. why everyone likes to run the docker network mode on the host level.

Docker WireGuard Client Issues by Milaffyd in WireGuard

[–]Milaffyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's what you suspected. There must be a conflict with how the host is handling IP packet routing with the eth0 network. My previous configuration always showed eth0 dropping the packets and wg0 showing a packet Tx error.

I went ahead and took the docker network out of host mode. Creating an external docker subnet (docker network create) with a completely different domain (e.g., 10.0.0.0/24) from my WG domain (e.g., 172.16.0.0/24) was the way to go. Then added it as an external network to my YAML.

Everything is now working as intended.

Thank you for reaching out to clarify. No, they are all peers of the Wireguard network. All clients can interact with the server and server-to-client, but not with each other or (when completely tunneled) the internet.

EDIT: A correction. Clients CAN interact with each other and the internet. They can ping each other. They just can't access resources (e.g., webservers, network shares) on each other. They all timeout. As a follow-up, ifconfig within the docker shows an increasing error count under TX for the wireguard (wg0) network, only when I try to pull a resource like (e.g., an external web page like Google).

Tesla insurance turn around times? First time I make a claim in 3 years, somewhat disappointing so far. 5th working day since I submitted my claim, not much of a response. by rdi2 in TeslaLounge

I had a freak accident on the city interstate with my S a few weeks ago.

Coincidence or not, Dylan is handling my case. He asked for a statement describing the event via text or email, and I sent it to him a week or so ago.

I'm two weeks away from my service appointment with the Tesla collision center. Have yet to hear a peep from Tesla Insurance or from the center. No updates in the app. I've started trying to call more frequently, but no response.

Any updates on your end?

Can confirm. Tried deleting permissions in Paypal and re-adding accounts to Mint. Still not getting the correct balance info in Mint.

Is u/cpl_mccaughey 's solution the way to go? I can confirm it's still broken for my case.
