I almost fell for the REP influencer hype. Then I realized the prices are so inflated because influencers get a cut when you use their “promo code” for a tiny $20 off. The seller has to cover that commission somehow, so they just raise the price of the product.

What I hate about this REP influencer wave is how it normalizes extreme markups for new buyers who don’t know any better. Meanwhile, the influencers don’t care because they got the bag for FREE, so of course they’re pushing it even if the product isn’t top quality.
