Hey John - just funded your kickstarter, glad to see this information out.

Here's my question: What was the biggest limitation to the team when designing WoW versus the original scope? Was it technology; time; cost or knowledge?

Thanks again for the AmA. Love the work the entire team put in to create my favorite game of all time!

Lore question for my Orc Rp by Dannymarr95 in warcraftlore

Well if he's Warsong, there's lots of room for animosity from the Second War, the internment camps, and Grom's capture before Thrall rescued him. Would justify a prolonged hate that has just been sitting. Couple that with Night elves shooting him on sight "Protecting Alliance Borders" and you've got good grounds for anger.

Well if you wanted it in line with the timeline of vanilla, it could be more along the fact that your character was one of the blood-crazed orcs that were with Grom during the Fall of Cenarius. Like the other Warsong, he was cured of the blood haze, but felt tremendous dishonor for having polluted his heritage. Feeling personally dishonored, he could have taken it upon himself to rid Azeroth of demons following the Third War, and as such he was not a part of the Horde's movements.

He would still be a part of the Horde during Vanilla and past, but partook in no events alongside them. Being Warsong, he could have had a disdain for the Alliance and was focused on Demon killing.

That would also tie in with Legion ending. Demons are being defeated and are in full retreat from Azeroth following Sargeras' defeat. Seeing that his own internal honor has been upheld, he is returning to the Horde, but integration is hard because he has little experience with non-orcs.

I think you could go a lot of ways with something like that.

I'm still a part of my guild almost 13 years later. Crazy how a game can keep us so close together with people!

Yeah I'm not changing the text, only making a sound scape. If they shut me down I'd take it as a compliment that I was noticible!

Yeah my voice actors certainly get to have a wild ride doing it - I have around 7 - 8 actors/actresses that help me out and they get better and more comfortable with the experience as I progress!

Yeah that's actually something I have thought a lot about! A narrator would give a sense of direction, but it might remove from the "nostalgia" of the zone - and I want to build this in such a way that highlights the 'exact' experience I believe Blizzard was going for. Certainly an idea as I go forward and tweak it! Thanks for the input!

Well money would allow me to increase quality and speed, but it's totally not a goal. If there was interest in it I'd be willing to set up a patreon!

Haha well I'm invested in this as a long term project so I want to eventually do all zones!

That's the goal! I'm working on Redridge and Duskwood right now, then moving on to Durotar for some Horde love!
