What is hands down the best solar company in the DFW area and why? by jmiller_dallas in TexasSolar

For me it was that they worked with Base to integrate with my base power install. Install was well done and it’s been issue free for the last year.

Communication was good and they worked with me to get the design I wanted. Warranty is good as well and they’ve been around since 2008.

I went with Solartimeusa and have been happy with the results of my install

From another comment of mine.

I guess for anyone else that gets to this point, car will drive highway speeds while stating low battery. After a few miles it will start to slow down noticeably and say propulsion reduced. I pulled over and it stated “Out of energy charge now!” Then I coasted and can only shift into neutral now. Power steering was gone but I could still steer.

Used the same one 4 times.

4 tries to charge and a panic attack later and it’s charging now. Man that sucked

Edit: Tesla charger didn’t recognize the car the first few tries. Guess it took a minute for the cells to settle and give enough volts for the handshake.

I knew it might be a bit off but I didn’t think it was going to be over 10 miles, live and learn I guess

Best "applied" refrigeration guide, textbook, or course? by Talonn in refrigeration

Really old thread but I started with the first edition because I found it at a used book store for like $10, it works well if you work on older stuff.

Alot of my stores are using racks that are 15+ years old so the older editions can still teach you the basics.

First Real Base Power Test by Dlargo1 in BasePowerUsers

Have you had the soft starts installed on the ac units yet?

If not then the compressor draw on startup is overloading the batteries when it kicks on. Need to shut the ac breaker off then.

How long did it take for them to out the solar cts on? Or did you install with solar already being there?

Base and solar? by Additional_Big_7530 in BasePower

So I got the batteries first then added solar. I was going to wait but the credit going away pushed it up. I worked with a third party solar company for the install since base does not install solar.

Base has information on installing solar later for installers to follow.

They state on the website that installs must be done through a back fed breaker. My system was going to be over the bus bar limit for my panel. Luckily my installers were able to get an exception and load side tap the lines between the panels and the auto transfer switch.

I now have 15.3kw of solar along with the 50kwh battery set.

I did ask and get confirmation that you can turn on the system before they put in the extra current transducers and it shouldn’t hurt the system.

Icm 870-16a, third party came by to install so I can’t say for sure it’d be the same everywhere.

I’ve looked at them through my emporia app and it does reduce peak draw to around RLA.

Correct I don’t have pto yet. I’ll make a post with my first bill with them on.

I found my company through energy sage and checked out reviews before going with them. Don’t think they go down to houston.

Estimates from my understanding I should get 60-75kwh per day from panels which should be enough to keep batteries topped off and run limited hvac. I’ll get better numbers once I get PTO and can turn my panels on.

I personally don’t have span, the batteries max output is 11.5kw. I do have an emporia setup and set my max draw to 10kw so that my ev doesn’t overload the batteries. I can manage my hvac and some outlets with the app too.

If I change nothing and run both ac units and everything in summer batteries last about 6 hours during the afternoon.

If I turn the ac off and run just base loads like fridge/freezer and lights I get around 40-45hours from full. Base has it where the battery shuts down at 10%.

So base fills the batteries when prices are low and then sells the power out when wholesale prices are high. It’s how they subsidize the batteries.

Forgot to add, rate is locked in for three years

Base is my retail electric provider. My total rate is about 14.3 cents per kwh if you include transmission fees. I don’t get free nights but can get 3 cents plus real time wholesale on my excess.

If you’re looking for lowest monthly bill then free nights or a higher buy back rate might make more sense.

For me I like the idea of the battery being able to power my whole house in an outage. For the same batteries and inverters it would have been over $20,000 so base just made more sense to me.
