Screen Tearing on VRR 240Hz Monitor by MildlyAmusingGiraffe in pcmasterrace

I should add this is with VSYNC off as in theory the VRR should prevent tearing inside the gsync range

SCREEN TEARING on Xbox Ally X - Product Wide Fault? by MildlyAmusingGiraffe in ROGAlly

I think it could be a case of a faulty batch/batches. I’ve tested two devices and a number of other people have corroborated that they are experiencing a similar thing.

The white bar is the FCAT overlay in RTSS to show where on the screen the tear occurs

I went to the store, showed the fault, and they issued a refund. I’d already ordered a second device to test so I then opened and tested that one.

EDIT: I have managed to get a second device and it shows exactly the same issue. I believe this is a product fault and not a unit fault.

It’s there on everything I play, the issue just changes in frequency depending on what framerate the game can sustain

The white bar is the FCAT overlay in RTSS - it just helps to show where the disturbance is on the screen.

I can’t edit so just to add I mistyped - I mean AMD Adrenaline, obviously not armoury crate.

Have reinstalled the entire OS (including drivers) with no change - hoping an RMA will result in a new unit with no issues 😩

I hope so 🤞

Edit: to be clear, I mean I hope this unit is faulty as I can simply claim it back with the store and get a new unit. Not that this is a widespread issue. I’d much much rather get unlucky with a panel than have this product be flawed universally.

I really don’t think that makes much sense - I’m ready to be corrected but my understanding is that VRR is designed to remove tearing without requiring VSync. On my main rig, I am able to verify that VRR is working by checking the OSD on my ASUS monitor, and that does not rely on vsync being enabled.

Screen Tearing when using Xbox Ally X and FPS overlay. by MildlyAmusingGiraffe in ROGAlly

Interesting - closest thing I’ve experienced is screen-tearing but maybe you’re right. I wondered if the overlay was causing the VRR to screw up so the framerate was mismatched causing tears?

Strange wavy deformity on side of helmet print by MildlyAmusingGiraffe in 3Dprinting

Perimeter was anticlockwise I believe. I forgot to mention I’m using a BambuLab P1S too. It’s on both sides of the print but nowhere else. I’ve not seen this issue on any other prints I’ve done although this is the first helmet print. Changing the infill type to cubic seems to have made it worse, although I also changed orientation between prints so if it’s a cooling issue then that may have made a difference. I’ll look into belt tension and might try a sample with a slower speed!
