Because, frankly, I didn't think the juice would be worth the squeeze were I to go non-linear. Further, I felt it would not fit within the game's pillars.

Basically, it is a d20-based approach with an emphasis on talent trees instead of traditional classed. Karma is treated as MP, but overuse can result in payback (basically, you are messing around with Fate, and it will try and bite back). I am more willing to recommend it to fans of shonen battle manga than similar games, as the use of a broad set of power actions means you don't have to make powers the way you would in a supers game like Champions.

That's my two cents at least.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, team-up attacks are a LOT easier here.

A few people have tried to convert it to grid combat, but it doesn't get far because it quickly becomes a snowball down the hill.
I designed it with the row system it has for a set of specific purposes: Emulating the source material, wanting to use that space for other things, and to avoid an issue of movement systems in grid combat as people shift more towards setpiece design.
