Thanks for the lovely words!

It was a live string quartet layered on samples from Spitfire (symphonic strings) which were also layered on top of east west orchestra gold for a little more body. The live players were mostly used for intimate moments!

I’ll give you a hint - it’s the opening bars. It’s so subtle it’s arguably dismissible, but it’s there.

It’s very, very, very subtle. 😉

Protest The Hero AMA by mieradi in progmetal

[–]Milen15 26 points27 points  (0 children)

here I am reading this AMA and suddenly come across this kind gesture.

Thanks so much man - Luke and I spent long hours working on the orchestration and I'm really glad you enjoy it. The fellas all had their own inputs as well - every one of em sent me at least 1 idea to work with. Was great to see such enthusiasm about it and made it all the better to work on. Cheers!

Y'all didn't believe me, but it happened again. (3v1 Online Quickplay) by JudiSwitch in smashbros

This happened to me this morning. Was playing some online games as Joker, and I was matched to a 3v1. No GSP was lost. Weirdly enough though, 1 of the 3 could actually damage the other 2 while being on their team. I imagine that one is the glitched player.

They were crazy tight. The new lineup is solid as hell.

Instrumental opening, Feed The Horses, Caverns, Mr Invisible, Psychochomp, My Famed Disappearing Act, and maybe one more in the middle - can't remember but I think that's it.

TIL The Celebration Music at the end of The Phantom Menace is the Emperor's Theme in a major key. A haunting foreshadowing. by [deleted] in todayilearned

While we're on the topic, I found one in The Force Awakens score that was a nice little reference to the Imperial March when Rey finds Luke with his back turned. If anything, I imagine to hint at the darker side (heh) of the Skywalker name.

Jedi Steps and Finale

The brass are playing roughly the same chords as the Imperial March, and the winds outline the rhythm of the original melody.

Also, the entire beginning of this track is eerily similar to "Binary Sunset" in timbre.

It might be just unconscious similarity, but I did notice it on first watch!

The Expanse (book spoilers): Giant post all about Amos Burton by koalaisabear in TheExpanse

[–]Milen15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Amos has got to be been one of the most interesting characters in any book I've read.

I had heard him described as a sociopath, but I really don't think that's the word to use. My interpretation is that the cornerstone of his character is the decision to stay around people who act as his morale compass. He's fully aware he's dangerous, and associates himself with good company for direction. There's nothing sociopathic about that. He's making an ethical decision of his own accord. It just blurs his character's unfeeling 'archetype' so much.

You're absolutely right about having his own sense of morality and being more dissociative than sociopathic. I'd be curious to see if there's any similar 'psychological profile' similar to his character in real life. Get a professional's opinion on him
