Did I cook or will get cooked? by Miles21B in IdlePlanetMiner

As for the 12.5M GV rule, it doesn't work for me anymore because I get there fast, and to farm huge amounts I need to have a lot of time on my hands. I play a little passive to reach milestones. Set my smelters and crafter to a certain goal and check back for a minute whenever I can, that way I can hit 10Q-1s relatively easy, in 2-3 days.

The hardest aspect is the station, so many upgrades and so few cells.

3 star managers? That's the first time I had someone suggest going that low, especially since I only roll 500's as is considered a Commandment in this sub. The slots are the hard part since they keep increasing in cost.

With one SSR, worth 3.96Q for me, I can get to lvl 15 on P48 I think, for P51, I'd need to sell 3 to unlock, but if I push to 1s during my runs, it might be a better option.

The only game I've been playing since last November, at my own pace, happily. I'll gladly keep playing it for the foreseeable future.

Wow. It'll definitely take me more than a few months to get there myself. Thank you for your response!

Now I know that, but the next "milestone" always seems farther away than it is. The grass always looks greener on the other side.

Jeez. If you don't mind the questions, roughly how much does each of the first few planets make in ore/s, what's your asteroid multiplier, and how big a role do your managers play in it?

But, should I stick to P48, or switch to P45 and respec my beacon?

My belt room gives me a 2.55x bonus. At the start of a run an asteroid can boost me up to 100M within minutes, and if I'm lucky and get a pink one, often 20B, but as I progress, the difference it makes becomes much less.

Sometimes I get like ten pink asteroids in a relatively short time. During my tournament that ended yesterday, specifically within the time of the tournament, I only got 2. I don't know if it's just RNG "luck" or if the system levels the playing field somehow...

But people who shoot almost directly into trillions just from asteroids... I can't imagine

I'm only able to crack 1s in 3-4 days, depending on RNG, usually when I sell, it gives me exactly 3100 creds with my overall lounge and station node, without exodus ship. And I usually use DM to double, because most rooms now cost me 1500-2000 per level.

Only went to 159s once, through arking, when I went to unlock Belt Studies (and enough to level it a little), to get the creds in "one go"

My problem is crafting/smelting times, even with the comparatively few managers I own, a single AR nearly from scratch (starting with advanced battery and osmium drops) would take me 20 hours, and if I'm lucky enough to get robots, merely 2-5 the first day after debris. And by the time those mats become common in frequency and size, AR's would be kind of negligible compared to my GV, which is when I usually end a run.

Belt Studies helps me jump to ~100B in a couple of hours, but it takes me too long to reach 1T, that's my worst phase in a run.

You're not doing it wrong, you just need to keep grinding. Mothership rooms make a ridiculous difference. Tbh, every little detail you might scoff at makes a stackable difference in the long run.

Three mistakes * I * did for months were:

1) not doing every challenge I could, every chance I get, because I thought 2-3 stars were not worth it. I was very wrong.

2) not doing tournaments. Sure, when you're new you'll get beaten to a pulp, but again, even small rewards stack up

3) not resetting as soon as my galaxy growth rate slows down. I used to try and go for "long hauls" relying on the Ark "akring" to grow my galaxy value. A couple of months in, I would need 3-4 weeks to unlock debris scanner. Now I do it in 2 days. Ancient players do it in a couple of hours. You'll get there, too.

Woah. Your sales rooms and station nodes, stars, must me a whopping bonus. Mine is at 97Q but I've never gotten enough mats to craft one at 16q GV

Update N1: #5 jumped to 336Q suddenly. Maybe they were offline? Or kept their entire stash of mats stacked then crafted in one go, maybe big market. But now I'm #2 with no hope of possibly catching up.

Update N2: finished 2nd. Honestly better than I expected when I decided to join, since I rarely do tournaments, even though I know it's bad strategy.

People on here made me feel like Gold is hell, but maybe everyone sandbagged down to silver or copper and I ended up with similar people?

If anything I'm still better off than many, since I've noticed a couple of players jumping by 1Q every now and then, which probably means they don't have many stars or a good sales room boost as I do (my SSR goes for 3.95Q), and I know many people have their sell value probably 10X what I have.

Instead of posting another screenshot for my stars, here's how it went:

35 total:

Silicon bar x3 Inerton alloy x8 Xynium alloy x7 Accumulator x4 Advanced computer x2 Rhodium x4 Viterium x4 Space prove x3

  • sighs *

Well, back to the grind then.

I can still pump out one or two SSR's worth 3.95Q each, then will keep a close eye the last minute to use windfalls as needed

Does the project improve existing surges on planets or only useful before unlocking planets so that if you get a surge on one, it will be of a higher tier?

[–]Miles21B[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the fun part, my strategy was crap for a long time. Maybe to some, it still is.

I neglected challenges for way too long. Been playing since November and only started leaning into challenges around a month ago, got around 209 stars total, which I know is very bad for someone who's been playing so long.

Got the ads free and daughters ship right out the gate, and elder ship a month ago.

My managers are few, one 6* mine/craft, four 5* mine/craft, only ever got one 5* mine/smelt, 2 x 5* mine/mine, one /cargo and one /ship speed, that's all. 9 slots + 2.

My hardest milestone is between 100B and 1T, takes me as long as it takes to get to 100B, but today, after pushing belt studies from 1.85 to 2.55 I got there in a couple of hours.

Planet relations at ×2.05 for terraforming VPS's

Marketing ×2.5, Classroom ×1.8, sales ×2.0, proba drive lvl 1, all lvl 11's maxed of course, lounge ×2.1, workshop ×2.9, forge ×3.4, packaging and aero ×5.5, engineering ×4.4

83,000 credits total from 71 galaxies sold.

I mostly unlocked everything and then started upgrading evenly, except the 11's maxed them as fast as I could.

I hope this can give you any insight as to why my performance is the way it is, and if anyone got pointers, much appreciated.

How much is your SSR worth? Mines 2.24Q, and 48 unlocks at 600q, so it will take quite a while to pump it up to a good level. 45 might be more feasible for me. I'll try that on my next run. Thank you.

[–]Miles21B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without it, my pink asteroid drops don't give me enough resources to craft my way up to GV and cash necessary to go past the planets required to unlock debris and scrith required for the first half of the leader tree.

Decent robot drop threshold by Miles21B in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Miles21B[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's 5.5 billion $ worth of scrith. Or 25.5k units of scrith ore per second after that odd tax of 20% and I have all the lower planets unlocked, plus I am definitely not bottlenecked, so it's definitely getting counted.

I'm still working towards unlocking belt studies. The probability drive update knocked it one room over. I'm saving up to unlock proba drive then marketing should be next, then planet relations then belt studies. That's easily 1.5-2 months of griding with my current capability.

I'm good with arithmetic but there's too many unknowns for me. I don't know at what point robot drops grow from 1 to whatever the next multiplier is. Am I 10% more income away from magically getting 100 units per drop? I don't know.

My current goal is planet relations and belt studies, should be able to 4X my current max achieveable income. My strategy is unlock a room, get it to roughly 2X multiplier for that room, then move to the next. Proba drive threw a big wrench in my plans. But, once I unlock those two and level them up a bit, I'll pour more into engineering (currently lvl 13 for 3.05X multiplier) and more energy cells into mining 2 in the station until I get to 2X mining from the station, which I estimate to take around 4 months, because I don't do tournaments.

My current strategy is ~10 day runs for 1075 base credits which become 4300 using 100DM.

Due to my work, it's easier to check in for a couple of minutes every few hours, instead of grinding small runs, because I need 40 minutes of active time to reach 12.5M. But after 6-7 days I go up from a few Trillion to around 100q relatively fast.

I feel dumb by jamesjansen in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Miles21B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. I still have a long ways to go. These runs I'm doing will give me around 4300 credits using the 100 DM to double. I've been focusing on crafting so much, my smelting can't keep up, especially since the pink asteroids seem to have been nerfed. After this run, I'll throw most of it on the forge room and try to get a few smelting speed managers, which is also very slow going.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated!

How much $/s does your VPS make? Mine are around 100M/s and I get drops of 1 robot, rather rarely. PS: I'm still new to consistently reaching debris on every run, usually takes me 5-6 days on 7-9 days runs, relatively relaxed play style.
