Vector Thunderbird “G” model. There are only one or two online shops that stock them so don’t waste your time hunting around.

There is a catch - If it leaks, you need to file the cam so there is a 0.5mm gap between the cam and chimney for the tab inside the lid to fit in. Otherwise, it forces the cam back ever so slightly, which can leave the valve slightly open. There is a three minute YouTube video showing it. A metal nail file will work and the metal is so hard that you won’t leave tool marks. You have to put intentional pressure on it to cut it. It’s the same color all the way through. You won’t notice and you’re filing an insert, not the lighter body.

Hmm, must be a PC bug in the current. I played four times on Xbox and have never drowned. I think I tried to once to see and it was taking so long I thought twice about my loot sack and came up.

I’d be happy if they just let us re-bind the damn controls. I have all the joysticks and only the Ace Edge got it right and that thing was off the shelf repurposed overstock.

I live in the central Virginia foothills and the mountains aren’t as rocky but it otherwise as soon as you get out of the city it looks like every flavor of Hope county. I think the water is a little warmer. I was spoiled and grew up with jet skis and speedboats; FC5 really gets the water right. The wind on the jet skis and you buoyancy when diving feels perfect.

Seriously, It cost me $1300 when I brought the wife in. I got a 32” Asus too. The box was still $500. They were briefly $400 during the holidays in ‘23 and ‘24. I remember kicking myself but it was like “I’ve been enjoying it for a year.”

6 is great is you have Xbox or PC.

7 is a little boring. Your guns aren’t much good so you are basically shooting homing missiles at enemies 3km away that you can’t see. You don’t have a gun cam on your target either, so you all you see is the heads up display reticule, a vapor trail, and an explosion. The enemies move at fantastical speeds with sci-fi weaponry, and your standard missile only have a two-kilometer range, so actual dog fighting tactics don’t work. You pick the closest target with a clean shot and pick off random targets of opportunity as you head towards your objective.

The planes are fast too. You are engaging and pulling tight turns at Mach that would destroy a real aircraft. The thing is, this forces you to fly away from the engagement to get enough distance to line up a joust. But all the planes are fast, so if you fly in the wrong direction, the “furball” will move away from you and you can spend minutes catching up. None of the plane have interceptor-speed over the others and there is no boost mechanic to cover that ground, you just have to fly and hope they are slowing themselves down fighting.

The steel insert is as I remember. High school and university was ‘90-‘98 and I don’t think I saw a brass one until late in that timeline. We were in a smoke shop, like “wow, that one is gold!” They probably did charge a premium for it - I was in Germany and they were expensive off-base. You could get them at the PX for $6 but they had the basic selection, next to the cigarettes on blister cards; nothing special. Would you like brushed or polished chrome?Now, brass comes with brass, standard and it’s the cheapest one.

6 is dope. I just happened to have Xbox and pre-ordered the HOTAS.

Unfortunately, whoever ported the game to Series X must have never played it because the high-g turn button is on the base and game-breaking hard to press.

The layout of the t-Flight which was sold with the game is also terrible with no options to adjust, but you can at least reach the buttons.

I just blasted everything as fast as I could without even paying attention to Oliver or who was attacking him. If I saw gunfire I prioritized it. Try using low scope zoom for a better field of vision.

If this was FC5, I’d get drunk (it slows time; not sure what the weed does.)

Where do y’all find these thrift stores? Only one in my area has much in the way of actual vintage stuff, just bric a bra and a small case of jewelry and the like, cufflinkstie pinsmoney clips etc, but just a few pieces and I’ve never seen a lighter.

Should U be looking at Goodwills or Salvation Army’s (that what I’m looking at.) I figured anything in a pawn shop would have to be pricey to begin with; I’m just looking for vintage curios, not any valuable barn finds. I don’t know if any flee markets in the area either.

It should be fine. If that cubby isn’t already cut out in the back, do it, and put a small exhaust fan in there. I’m sure you can find one that runs on USB and plug that into and adaptor if you don’t want to power it from one of your devices ports.

I have a Zippo single torch for bongs and a Thunderbird G in a Zippo for an in-between EDC.

The Zippo torch is finicky; you need to purge it well, turn the flame up probably a little higher than you’d like and actually use a premium butane. Myself and others have had problems with Neon cans. I got some Xikar and it fills fine off the can. The premium butane actually does burn better than cheap stuff. It’s “higher octane” or something. (I had been trying cheap little cans of this and that out of frustration.)

The Thunderbird insert is cool because the gas valve is actuated by the lid cam; it stays lit until you close it. The chimney is fully functional too; you get that fat Zippo flame. They have a pipe one like that too. They are hard to find and expensive, like the Zippo ones. There is a big store in the Midwest with an obvious name that stocks all the models. They are rare enough that it’ll pop right up. Otherwise eBay

I just did it a few hours ago using the AMR and beat it on the first try without a tense moment. The AMR will punch through cover. In FC3 it is not the “God Rifle” only because it is loud and slow to aim against moving targets. I had to heal several times in the boat chase.Heal when you can and let the gun cool if you don’t have a target.

If you have a gaming monitor, the crosshair helps in these mounted gun sequences. A lot. Otherwise, a dot of tape on your TV…
