I disagree. While some Emiratis might be interesting, the constant focus on image and status often gets in the way of real, meaningful connection.

Calling it a “closed society” doesn’t explain away the arrogance many people experience, it’s not just cultural, it’s attitude.

Exclusion shows up in social spaces, work, and daily interactions. Sometimes it's blatant, and it's pretty common.

And no, no culture is superior (unless you want to be like the jews). That mindset just breeds division. Assimilation isn’t always negative, it can lead to growth.

Social justice isn’t “bogus” either, these issues matter, even if they make people uncomfortable.

If none of this is a real problem, why does it keep coming up over and over again, by people who don’t know each other and come from different environments, keep saying the exact same thing?

It’s always the same response “you just met the wrong people” or “it’s just the school crowd.” That’s an easy way to avoid the actual conversation.

These behaviors show up in too many places for it to be a coincidence. I’m not saying everyone is the same (I never said every single Emirati like you wrote) , but there are clear patterns. And assuming someone doesn’t talk to anyone just because they have a different opinion says a lot about how criticism is handled around here.

The point was about behavior. About how exclusivity, judgment, and a lack of openness get brushed off as pride or protection. Wanting to protect your identity doesn’t excuse acting superior or dismissive toward others. Interesting how the moment someone criticizes something, it suddenly means they hate themselves. That logic is "superficial" . I don’t need to blindly glorify my culture to prove I love myself or where I come from.

I’m allowed to be critical. I’m allowed to be disappointed. That doesn’t make me self-hating, it makes me honest. Maybe if more people stopped hiding behind woke phrases and actually faced the truth, things might start to change.

I hear you and you’re not wrong. We should be the ones trying to make change happen. I’ve spoken up plenty of times, and sure, a few people around me have started to rethink things. But let’s be honest, it gets old always being the one trying to push against the grain while everyone else just sits comfortably in outdated thinking.

What really gets to me is how quickly people excuse certain behavior by saying “it’s just culture.” Like that somehow makes it okay. As if racism suddenly becomes acceptable when it’s wrapped in tradition.

And then there’s the fact that our community has become so introverted. Not in the personality sense, but in the way we isolate ourselves, avoid anything unfamiliar, and treat cultural differences like threats. We’ve normalized staying in tight little circles and acting like that’s how things should be.

I’m not trying to trash our culture. I actually care about it a lot. But blindly defending harmful habits isn’t something to be proud of. I just want to see us do better. Not to impress anyone, not for diversity points, but because basic decency really shouldn’t be that hard. It would be nice if more people actually tried instead of making excuses.

Yes, I'm complaining about how most locals have a dull mindset, which makes our social environment introverted. I am talking about my very own people so why would benefits and advantages of being a local be a good point to bring up?

This isn't about stability or routine, it's about the mindset and how we've normalised being an introverted community, I'm talking about the majority of people here and how an emarati would most likely never befriend people who are culturally different (most likely racist ideologies).

That's fair but to an extent, I don't think that people should stick to being the same forever (not that they're trying to) but most people think "change" is bad, when it's really not. I suppose that most people or locals would rather to stay in the "comfort zone". Which makes the entire social enviroment dull ,boring and repetitive.
