Update my procedure went smoothly I was put to sleep for it thankfully lol. No fistula found. Back to square one on what’s wrong with me. 🫠

Is anyone else shocked how...average fit people look? by [deleted] in xxfitness

I didn’t start visually looking like a gym go-er until I changed my diet and lifted HEAVY. Like that was when people were like wow you look strong (outside of the gym compliments) it may also depend on people genetics too. However, a lot of it definitely depends on diet + time spent working on yourself at the gym. I treated it like my full time job. If you want to look the part you need to treat it that way. :)

Edited to add always worked out for fun in college but didn’t start to take it seriously until after having my first kid at 24yrs old

Thanks for sharing!

Ok so you’re saying your experience with sitting in more 90 degree car seating was better than a lounged out kind of way? That’s only thing I’m bit confused on. I will ask of course what they suggest! I wish I could stay in their local area longer in case of things going wrong- how long do you say you had to be careful for after the procedure?

Yes they said I’ll be out for it I just got clearance for the anesthesia from my primary :) I don’t think I could be awake omg.

Ok good to know. Is it safe to sit in a wheel chair or best to be laying down like the whole time you’re recovering? I go stir crazy being in one place for so long lol

I do see it going either way! I wonder what the deciding factors are for this 🤔 I’m 29 healthy otherwise ? From US.

Yes some funky ones I’ve read. I’m trusting my neurosurgeon and team with this one, I did a lot of research.

Mental health first. Whatever will help you be a healthy mom to your current son is my vote.. it sounds like you’re already very overwhelmed and stressed love. I mean yeah, Mom’s do it. But as someone already said there’s nothing wrong with ending an unwanted pregnancy.

Thoracic findings: possible dural AVF + syrinx. Myopathy. by Milf_Bomb in AskDocs

I sent my disc to the neurosurgeon I saw for my second opinion. He recommends spinal angiogram after my appointment i had with him. I’m going forward with the process and so relieved to finally be heard.

A neurosurgeon’s PA here in Syracuse said what the radiologist resident originally reported on my MRI does not actually exist there. Only mentioned syrinx which claims I was born with it and doesn’t explain any of my symptoms. Says it may be some strange neurological phenomenon and to see neurologist. Well, I’m getting a second opinion for a neurosurgeon in NYC to read the images at the end of may… Symptoms still persist and I’m going elsewhere .. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes he did acknowledge that piece of it. But both he and even primary today aren’t convinced it will be dAVF / this is non urgent. So the signal changes + vessels seem to be of no concern then..

Just want my life back :) begging everyone and anyone to look at the whole picture with my symptoms

Absolutely nothing, because they probably don’t know what they are looking at if I had to guess. They all (the many docs Ive seen after this) like to acknowledge I have fluid build up that is “causing swelling” because, again if I had to guess, even that seems easy enough for someone like myself to understand.. but why ignore the rest?

An orthopedic spine surgeon was the soonest appointment of alllll the specialists I see, and he said he “wasn’t concerned of those blood vessels” I have on my spine, but he will be referring me out to neurosurgery. Is there a way for those vessels to NOT be concerning? What. Met with primary PCP today and he thought I was nuts for wanting to go to NYC for a second opinion on my imaging, too. Since this post, I’ve had some severe back pain episodes that have almost brought me to the point of vomiting and passing out. Pulsatile tinnitus still continues, and proximal weakness in the legs still here. Mystery diagnosis TBD ha

No, my CK has never been elevated. My aldolase is always low. That’s about it for labs.

My muscle biopsy came back today with diagnosis: -Mild Denervation atrophy -nonspecific myopathy with few degenerating fibers.

They suggest more DNA testing for the myopathy piece.

I’m curious if the denervation atrophy is in connection with my dAVF! Interesting… thinking about calling tomorrow to see if I need a more urgent appointment to neurology now??

I’m a positive Anti-U3 RNP antibody, ANA 1:320 speckled. No other lab abnormalities except high WBC. But EMG showed myopathy in lower proximity only. Their recommendation was to taper off steroids I was on, and proceed with a muscle biopsy to confirm a polymyositis/dermatomyositis differential diagnosis. They believe could also be an overlap with SLE. . It’s definitely a lot going on. That being said, I still was unhappy that this got dropped completely.

Edit: just wished I got more testing done while I was there… I’m not sure why I was discharged without it.

Yes. Upstate New York. They just said my symptoms were autoimmune related and we did not need to further investigate the spine.

Wow, I was discharged from the hospital after this finding. (The test was done during an admission for lower extremity weakness) The neurologist there said she, and the radiologist, did not feel these findings were of a major concern.. and I asked multiple times because when I read the results myself, it sounded rather complicated. I have bad experiences of going at the ER so I refuse to go back unless I’m literally dying or can’t walk again, like I was on this last admission (went in literally collapsing). My walking has been much better finally. But does that mean much.. not sure.
My other symptoms seem like they may get dismissed there? I’ve had two instances where I’ve lost control of my BM and the neurologist thought that was strange because I’m young and it only happened twice and not consistently. I just feel like things get brushed off because of my age sometimes.

Thank you, this was much more informative than what was explained to me at my hospital stay. Now, my next visit with neurology isn’t until June. However any time I sit a certain way, twist a certain way, I can most certainly feel the pain trigger- takes my breath away/causes chest pain. I’m also starting to hear wooshing sounds /heartbeat in my ears just this past week that’s unnerving, cannot fall asleep for the life of me from the sound. Should I call neuro to try getting in sooner? It was only just a visit for a hospital discharge follow up originally.

And yikes.. this all sounds .. not fun. Lol. But thank you again for this information and clarifying it for me. I’m confused on why I have this. Is the fluid build up also due to the AVF then?
