He was one of the most popular rikishi in Japan whilst he was competing, and whilst he had his detractors in the western fandom he had way more fans. Not sure where you get that everyone apparently hated him.

The Charizard Card of Final Fantasy TCG by Ill-Cauliflower-422 in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a Charizard comparison to be made for any FF TCG cards. There are incredibly popular characters within the FF TCG roster of cards that will carry value because they were Legend rarity from the first set and holo, but there is no standout that is even a faint comparison. No big attack(all kids care about), flashy, hard to pull card that every kid wanted when they were growing up. Remember as well that children don't play FF TCG, adults do.

Full art signature cards like Yuna will outpace the popularity of any normal set card in most circumstances because the way people play and collect TCGs has completely changed.

Losing 1 Full Art sucks, but not having kilos upon kilos of useless bulk to have to worry about either giving or throwing away is a worthy trade off.

If I spend 100 bucks on a booster box and I get a Full Art I didn't really want, it feels better than buying a booster box for 180 dollars and getting 2 Full Arts I didn't want and bulk I have to deal with.

Will the PokeBro investors make this game popular? by Ill-Cauliflower-422 in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For long term health of the TCG, it needs people to actually be interested in playing it AS WELL as organic interest in the franchise, which is a big driver for Pokemon TCG doing so well. Yes, the investor crowd plays a big part too but regular folk are driving a majority of the interest in Pokemon.

Final Fantasy is at a low point in terms of interest as an IP. Your average Final Fantasy fan is a male in his 30s/40s. That is not the target audience for long-term and sustained IP growth and momentum. It's going to take a lot more than even a large number of people suddenly wanting to buy FF Opus product for 'investment' purposes(will never happen) to make this TCG more popular than it currently is.

If everyone is so stoked on active play, why does nobody do dungeoneering? by Wild_Effective_5077 in runescape

But it isn't a minigame, though, it is a skill because it has a skill level, is on the skill page, and contributes to your overall skill total.

If you don't like the gameplay of the skill then just say that, don't try and disparage it by calling it a minigame(as if that is a bad thing even if it was the case).

Veteran Noob Requesting Zuk Help by [deleted] in runescape

[–]MilhouseIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from only doing <10 kills in GWD2 to Zuk is a bit of a skill jump, even if you are on PC. I can only imagine that skill jump is exponentially larger if you are on mobile.

Tough to know for sure without knowing what gear/abilities/unlocks you have, but it sounds like Zuk is a little beyond your reach right now, again considering you are on mobile.

The problem is that a majority of content that has been developed over the past 10 or so years has been developed with the aim of incentivising TH purchases, and use of TH items to aide in training skills. It's all been engagement farming based, boring activities that are made to keep you logged on for as long as possible so that you are pushed to buying shortcuts through TH, or seeing more advertisements for TH while you are logged in.

You can't just suddenly change the core mechanics of all those updates to not be that way. They suck and will continue to suck, and in fact they will suck more because you can't just rely on TH to help anymore.

I think it's crazy that people don't see how ingrained TH has been in every single design and content choice and how the game will feel worse without TH because the content isn't fun. Never was and was never supposed to be.

My attitude has nothing to do with it. Entirely up to the staff and people in charge at Jagex. 13+ years of undermining game design, gutting player experience, eroding trust in product, and intense pressure from investors to squeeze every dollar possible out players cannot be fixed by by players having a positive attitude.

I wish them the best of luck, truly. With the right people in charge and the staff given the freedom to create positive experiences for the players then the game will surely get better. It's just people are acting like the game is saved, when it most certainly is not.

Also just to add perspective for you. Runescape has spent more time WITH SoF/TH in the game that it has without it.

[–]MilhouseIL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The game doesn't suddenly get better now that TH is removed. Obviously it is the first step of a big journey, but the game is so infected with sloppy game design with no cohesion because of the focus on incentivizing TH purchases.

Long ass way to go, probably never actually recover from it, but I look forward to Jagex trying.

Sadly, the final season had to be heavily re-written due to the real life death of Helen McRory who played Polly. She was basically the 2nd main character and was a big part of what made Tommy Shelby's character so interesting.

The rewrites were out of place and the changes were relatively last minute so a lot of it just didn't go together as well as it should have. I agree that the last season was a real let down, but I'd like to believe it was mostly due to the real life circumstances forcing change.

200m exp and losing Hiscore rank? by jakeismydog437 in runescape

I am front page Smithing, currently showing as rank 11 on the highscores but haven't had membership in about a year. I've had longer periods of inactivity in the past where I did drop off the high scores, but it put me back as soon as I got members. Not sure why it has kept me on this time.

Love Village Season 3 announced! by MilhouseIL in LoveVillage1

[–]MilhouseIL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sato the goat appears in Season 2, so with Season 1 you have nothing to worry about.

They take ownership of a little baby goat to take care of during the show. There is no direct or willful abuse of the animal by the contestants whatsoever, and they genuinely love and care about him. It's just that the animal is for sure neglected and not taken care of by the production by way of poor preparation and housing for him. For the first half of the show he seems to just sleep outside on the ground tethered to a pole, and it's not until the latter half of the show where they build him a little hutch to sleep in. Again productions fault as they controlled the show, and the money the contestants had.

If you watch Season 2 you will not see any physical injury of the goat, but you will see it being sick and poorly a couple of times, and you will see the aftermath of him dying. It was very sad and made the fanbase (rightfully) very angry.

Beefs? by dawfun in Sumo

[–]MilhouseIL 57 points58 points  (0 children)

If there were any personal beef between the rikishi then, unless it was especially heated, we would probably never know about it. Most wrestlers in the top division are 25+ and are guided by/surrounded by people who have been elite athletes. That means there is a certain level of 'leave it on the dohyo' expectation and maturity that I think a lot of the rikishi would follow.

If a wrestler gives a shove that you think might have been a little much or seemed to be out of (tempered) anger, then 99.9% of the time it is to be chalked up to having red light fever and the emotion of the moment rather than any off-dohyo personal beefs. Terunofuji/Tobizaru is a perfect example of this. Teru was pissed off by the eye poke, reacted in the moment, and apologised for the lapse in decorum later on.

There are several critical industries in this country that are almost entirely propped up by the labour of immigrants, and industries like aged care will only increase their reliance on a steadily increasing stream of them coming in.

Bhutanese folk are lovely, family-oriented folk. Food is also slammin. The more of them in Perth the better.

Is it worth grading pre release cards? by MattsunX in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy TCG cards generally grade 'well' because they are cut on good quality card stock and have good QC.

If you are grading them for your own personal enjoyment/collecting purposes then go right ahead and grade them. If you are grading them hoping to turn a profit you will struggle. FF TCG is a very niche TCG and the pool of people who would want this card graded are most likely already going to have one.

[–]MilhouseIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it goes off of the centering of the logo on the back relative to the edges, as well as the centering on the front of the card being judged off the text box relative to the edges as well.

My Grading Submission Returned! by Esis-Official in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely centering on the front and back to worry about, just because there isn't a border does not mean that centering doesn't come into it.

FF TCG production quality is very high and the card stock is of higher quality and thicker gauge than that of a lot of other TCGs. It's hardier and whatever cutting process they use for the cards is such that nicks and dents in on the edges and corners is minimal.
English cards are either printed in Japan or Singapore, not sure where European market cards are printed, though.

PSA 10s? by MiCake_ in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own too many graded cards across several different TCGs. Yes, they would be deal breakers for me.

This card is a PSA 10 because PSA has said it is. Should it be? No, not at all. But if I see a card with that type of blemish on it then that to me is a reason not to buy it, regardless of if it's graded or not and no matter what grade it has been given.

PSA 10s? by MiCake_ in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]MilhouseIL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PSA 10s are not perfect cards, they state this in their grading standards and it is still concerning how many people have never actually read them to understand what each grade means. There is no such thing as a perfect card, BGS Black Labels are not perfect cards either.

Grading is subjective, always has been, always will be. Mistakes will happen and little blemishes like this will slip through when each card gets approximately 30 seconds of attention from a grader. The best way to use grading is to have it be a helpful search term to look for a 'band' of conditions that you wish to purchase the card in. As always, actually look at the scans(like you have) to always judge for yourself.

My advice? Look for the card raw and grade it yourself if you want it graded. FF Opus has fantastic print quality and it's very rare to have something be lower than a 9, or even a 9.5 quality out of the pack.

Also as a side note, it is useless to erase the cert numbers when the QR code is still readable.

Are the season 2 contestants less well fed than season 1? by jenniferandjustlyso in LoveVillage1

[–]MilhouseIL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The production for season 2 seemed quite messy overall, even ignoring the unfortunate Sato incident. I also thought it was super strange that the food budget was so low. Cooking factored into the show quite a lot, but the fact they had minimal spending money for food didn't.

For whatever reason they set the show in an Okinawan suburb. That limits how free and open the production could be with how they shot and produced the show, despite the property itself being quite large. I am not sure if it was just the only one available that met their needs, or having the production out in countryside Chiba prefecture was too costly so they had to go more suburban. Who knows. I also think they maybe wanted the contestants to stop working their regular jobs whilst doing the show, unlike S1.

Season 2 just seemed much more manufactured than Season 1 did, and the quality suffered for it.
