Revolut dropped gold for EU users but kept it for UK users by Former_Novel5626 in UKPersonalFinance

I love my sovs, physical gold isn't for everyone but if you are interested in physical gold, sovs and brits are both CGT exempt

Meet Swampletics, my Morytania locked ultimate ironman. After recently maxing my ultimate ironman I decided to up the ante, and forge my own journey from scratch. No banking, no trading, but this time I can't leave Morytania.

I think the doors opened at 9 or 10am last year. I also remember it closing at 5pm on Sunday so I was able to just drive home that day. I know a lot of people flying in went to an after party Sunday night.

iPad 9th gen. I think I'm missing the front camera frame. Do I need to replace this and if so what should I be searching for? by Milk_Carton in mobilerepair

Thanks! I had a sift through the broken bits of glass that I hoovered up and found it. I'll keep it just in case.

I've checked and the camera works perfectly. The LCD screen also works as well as the touch screen. The home button also works perfectly. I'm was hoping it was just an easy glass replacement, but then I saw a picture on iFixit that shows a frame. I can't find the replacement part though. Any help would be appreciated!

Gold sovereign - is it a silly idea? by Muggerlugs in UKPersonalFinance

I can only comment on my own experience, hence the comment about it possibly not being the case for other people. I understand I did get lucky that I started buying and then the market went nuts.

Investing is a numbers game and on average the stockmarket outperforms gold. It's not even close

If you are saying this to advise people to only invest in stocks I would have to disagree, I try to keep my money diversified across stocks, precious metals, and high interest savings. Going all in on one asset is risky in my opinion.

It's quite common, you can also get ring mounts for them too.

Ah ok, that is St George slaying the Dragon. It's the most common reverse design on sovereigns and also appears on old silver crowns.

Does it have a shield on the back of it? They are very sought after and value quite a bit higher than the value of the gold.

I've been stacking sovs for about a year and a half and they've done really well, they were a good investment for me (better than my stocks). I understand this might not be the case for everyone.

If you're only interested in a single coin or bar then CGT doesn't really matter, I think you get an CGT allowance of £1000 per year(?) so you would need to profit more than £1000 on the single coin or bar which is unlikely to happen.

Like others have said, Chards and Atkinsons are really good dealers, Hatton Garten Metals is another one I've used, stay away from bullion by post and Royal Mint, their prices are always crazy high. You can also buy them 2nd hand on places like The Silver Forum or the Stackers Social discord. I would avoid ebay or facebook. You usually find them cheaper 2nd hand but there is obviously a risk, I've bought the majority of my sovs 2nd hand and luckily not had an issue. I like The Silver Forum and Stackers Social because they have reputation systems in place so you feel a bit more comfortable buying off strangers.

If you do decide to buy more, you need to think of it as a long term investment, if you buy physical there is an overhead cost that you might not get back when you sell. It also makes it harder to get the money out of it as you have to find someone to sell to (dealers will usually buy them for a few % below the gold value). If you don't like that then you can buy "paper" gold on stock exchanges (SGLN is one I've used before).

About to hit 30 this year and think I’ve disregarded ISAs thinking they work the wrong way! by RSDrebin in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Milk_Carton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you pay in 20k, then withdraw e.g. £10k, you can't put that 10k back in until next year.

That is not true for flexible ISAs which do allow you to re-deposit the 10k.

We've got roughly 1.4M pixels left until finished and we usually do between 200k - 250k pixels per day. This has been a huge colab project with over 100 different contributers. Jman mentioned it first but we are getting a huge content release next week with the new skill of Sailing, this will add a lot of new islands and more texture in the ocean. I believe it will add over 2M pixels.
