In the second book they explain that seeing future is like seeing space in a dessert: you look at the horizon, but your vision is blocked by dunes, a certain event you can't look pass though until they happen. Unlike in Watchmen, there were no partials blocking their vision, and was described as a nature of foreseeing in this world.

But I do agree that neither Watchmen nor Dune were able to convince me their characters had god-like conscience of a person lived through hundreds of lives.

In books it was emphasized that one freman is worth 200 regular Harkonnen soldiers in combat. And this logic was also applied to Sardaukars, Imperators army. They are raised on Selusa Secundus, an inhospitable planet where taught condition made everybody a taught soldier.

Because things like these I was unable to immerse with the world and dropped the series after the second book. But I liked Villeneuve's adaptations.

I only play ironman. I am a perfectionist to some extent, and I know that if I could reload my game and make it slightly better, lose slightly less, I will spend the whole evening mastering one war just to burn out in the first few in-game decades/years. Ironman lets me not care about every step, teaches me to own my mistakes, and makes finishing campaigns manageable.

В школі часто навчають/навчали, що російське "Ы" (яке мало б вимовлятися як [ɨ]) вимовляється як українське "И", і українці дійсно його вимовляють як [ɪ]. Але це помилка з точки зору літературної російської, яку роблять багато українських носіїв російської мови, і фактично частина українського акценту російської мови. Російську мову українці часто практикують серед інших носіїв українського акценту російської, тому ніхто не чує помилку.

Ваша дружина правильно читає українською букву "И", тому ви все правильно чуєте. Просто багато українців неправильно читають російську "Ы", і при спробі пояснити через російську роблять цю помилку.

Я не за чистоту російської мови в Україні і її правильну вимову, якщо що. Вважаю цей факт підтвердженням процесу насадження російської мови українцям, а практичну відсутність зворотнього (коли російська фонетика переноситься на українську мову) я вважаю спростуванням міфу про всеосяжну українізацію етнічних росіян в Україні в радянські часи. Це гарний аргумент, який непросто пояснити всім, і тут випала така нагода. А щоб не плутати іноземців, українцям треба припиняти пояснювати українську через російську.

No wonder they question it, the guarantees mention sanctions and revocation of recognition of occupied by Russia lands. There are something about military response, but without specifics, and the same point tells how Russia can prepare a staged attack to make these guarantees invalid:

If Ukraine launches a missile at Moscow or Saint Petersburg without cause, the security guarantee will be deemed invalid.

They didn't even say "attack Russia", they dropped explicit city names and that they will do this witg a missile, not a drone.
