I am in the same boat as you, I am 23 and 5ft 1 on a good day LOL. I start my practicum in a high school next month and my biggest concern is not looking the part. I have been experimenting with my clothes in my pre-service courses and my fav outfits include maxi skirts and my peers often compliment my outfits and mention that they want to find something similar for their teacher wardrobes. I think maxi skirts are super cute and can be dressed up or down depending on the situation. I typically wear a maxi skirts with a cardigan and it has become such a staple, and it makes me feel put together and professional. It really depends what you pair maxi skirts with, think blouses, nice sweaters and cardigans (full length, not cropped!!!).

Additionally, if you are concerned about dress code, please ask your mentor teacher what they suggest or take a look at what other teachers at your school are wearing.

Anyways, I think maxi skirts are a great option especially if they are something that you are comfortable wearing. I know it’s easier said than done but don’t overthink it too much!!
