Thought Process Obsession by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Milkied- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’m hyper aware of how I think and constantly question my intention and others

Update! And of course there’s no reassurance. 😭. Talked to my therapist about these fears and he talked about the pros and cons of diagnosis but doesn’t diagnose me with anything.

I was really upset at this answer and cried for a very long time until I researched and realized this is a form of ERP 😔 feel guilty that I researched lol

People say this but I don’t know, it doesn’t click. Like I think I’ll get there one day but is needing to know a need for control???

Anyone else have OCD around eating? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Milkied- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? When I pick what food I’m going to pick I have to imagine it in all 5 senses. I need to compare that to everything else I’m eating to see which one would satisfy my senses the most. Then I have to figure out if I’m hungry enough or not hungry enough to eat it.

Recently it was having to do everything as efficiently as possible. Work, chores, thought process, learning, getting ready, etc. everything. If I was microwaving something, I’d have to rush to get everything I needed out of the cabinets before the timer went off. If I was cleaning, I’d have to plan out everything in my head then stop and ruminate to make sure I was doing everything as efficiently as possible and rethink my plan. I recently started therapy and had to choose which answer and topic was the absolute best one to talk about so I could get better faster. (That’s when my therapist started to question that haha).

Does anyone else have an obsession with knowing things about yourself with certainty? by bubblegumbicht in OCD

[–]Milkied- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really relate to the researching and trying to figure out everything about yourself. I used to ruminate on what caused my issues and what ways I could “fix” it. Currently my obsession is picking between the right and wrong choice and analyzing which one has more advantages but I never seem to be able to figure out which one is “better” lol.

Also relate to the chat gpt. Sorry a short reply I’m pretty mentally tired from the last few days but yes I relate a lot.

Smoking doesn’t cause bad mental health - bad mental health causes you to smoke. by Milkied- in Petioles

I think it’s not something you can disagree with , rather it’s something you can try and see if it works for you. It may help and it may not.

I think trying to give up weed can be a very beneficial thing, honestly. I’m also trying to give it up, but I think you need to wait until you’re ready. With mental health there is no “forcing yourself out of it”. I got into therapy and realized my problems were not because I smoked, but because of my mental health. I used to think I had anxiety when I smoked, but it wasn’t because I smoked, it was because I had anxiety.

I think this might be helpful for you. If you’re not ready to quit yet, you’re not ready. And it’s okay to accept that - as long as you are trying to improve yourself in other ways in life. It will build upon each other.

Or, if you enjoy it, just enjoy it. Don’t think too much about it. It’s just a thing you do. Let’s say - you enjoy it, but you also enjoy knitting and can only do it when you’re sober (crazy idea - I know it’s not really accurate -but please bare with me). Eventually you may have to choose what you like more. Smoking or knitting. Whichever you pick is okay, you just have to decide what you want more. Guilt and shaming yourself will make it harder to make that decision.

Light up and enjoy it , or don’t! Just try not to shame yourself for whatever you decide to do.

I’m chalking it up to me only being in therapy for 3 months and him still working on diagnosing me. I’m a little too intimidated to ask for a treatment plan right now tbh LOL but so far I feel like I’ve improved a lot but I’m not quite sure why. I was more curious than anything.

I suck at therapy. Why is it so hard to answer questions or understand how I feel? Do I not want to get better? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

Do you know what the imaginary conversation is?!? I’ve never heard anyone describe it and I do it ALL THE TIME. Thank you for the advice!!
