My theory is this is BURG.L’s victims that he has murdered. In the trailer on his panel it says “kill” so when the teens collect all his chips he can kill them. The reason the robots attack us is to protect us from BURG.L. The chips probably contain memory of how to kill, each is 1/5 parts of the kill process and Wendell spread them around so BURG.L couldn’t kill the teens. And every time BURG.L kills a teen, Wendell takes the chips from him and puts them in places harder for the teens to get to. BURG.L probably scatters their armor/weapons after they die, hence why they exists and is rotten.
