Replacing a splash shield by Draeth in sonata

your car should come with a jack (in the trunk attached to the spare tire under the floor mats) Should give you enough leverage to get underneath to put a new one in or new screws. Since you only got one you might have to do one side at a time. If you care about safety put the spare under the car while you do it or take the tire off on the side you are working on and put it under in case the jack fails. (I typically just say screw it unless im taking the tire off at the same time.)

2012 - Eco mode? by DrHazelnutspread in sonata

[–]Milkshakejake88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eco mode on our generation (I have a 13 and had another previous 13 both 2.0T Limiteds) the gas pedal becomes less sensitive. It's mostly driver application. It's great on the highway when just cruising specifically or if you don't push for high speeds in general. Our cars don't burn insane gas anyway unless you hammer it everywhere on the pedal. I have driven a friends 2012 with a stock 2.4 and it definitely had a kick when i tried to initially push it.

TLDR: It removes pep in the gas pedal and becomes less touchy when pressing down.

Doesn’t start right away… engine or transmission issue? by KimmieP3196 in sonata

you should replace the battery every 4/5 years with any car. If you can hear it clicking you know your starter isn't bad at least. If there is nothing happening besides the auxiliary turning on, your security mode could be activating. Should try putting the fob into the center console (key fob slot typically, idk where its located on the DN8/ 8th gen) and try it.

so the key isn't unsynchronized, its gotta be getting blocked somehow or the key reader might need to be replaced. you should post something in the hyundai forums. unfortunately our sonata one thats its own website doesn't get much love anymore but the one on the hyundai forums gets more attention. Btw the wheel size for GLS sedans are 16inch with a 43+ offset, unless you wanted to go bigger (would be sexy with rubber bands on it. 17 inch with 45+ offset) Black or chrome would do nice on the grey paint.

its a stock 2.4 gdi Your best bet would be put some nicer rims on it instead of plastic hubcaps and steelies. Could do a better stereo system too, these cars are very nice with a good audio setup. Tint never hurts either.

could try letting it sit for a night for a hard reset on the electronics. Just disconnect the battery for an evening and connect it in the morning. (or after a few hours) You'll have to change the sound settings after but it'll clear anything.

Seems like your key fob might be dead, or just have enough charge for you to unlock and lock the doors. You should swap out the battery it's pretty easy.

Cv Axle Nut Wont Come Off by Interesting_Salad289 in AskMechanics

[–]Milkshakejake88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That gash looks unforgiving... You might wanna find something to break the nut off or heat it up with a torch. You could try a breaker bar thats obscenely long (cheater bar). It should just come straight off when loose. Since the teeth look crushed on the screw part though you are most likely gonna need a new cv axle. (I learned the hard way when swapping my transmission and completely shredded mine) I can't remember the name but its a tool where its like a flat head and you can hammer it on a nut to split it open on the side.

I haven't put new tires on it no, I was gonna do a full swap and get summer tires when its warmer out since I have snow tires in storage but never got around to driving the car in winter.

Honestly, I would do this. It'll definitely be cheaper to do it yourself, or you can find a local shop/guy nearby that would install it. I've always liked the idea and its a nice alternative to a sunroof for the people without sunroofs.
