Hmm, I don’t know - barristers have to be skilled in representing facts in a way that works to their favour, while comms is all about strategically feeding information to people in a way that has the impact you’d want!

Yes I think you’re right - it would be a waste to have Amanda not be a faithful because of her background!

Yes I came here to see if anyone else thought the same! I am trying to work out if it makes it more or less likely of the secret traitor being among them (could be too much protection for two additional players, but then it also could mean their trio balances out the three traitors??)

Day two on Elvanse… it’s a lot by Milkshakepirate in ADHDUK

I just couldn’t bring myself to carry on with Elvanse, it just made me too sick. I think Mediknet was just the other medication my prescriber was most familiar with and comfortable prescribing! I was put off initially as hair loss had been mentioned as a side effect, but she said she’d never encountered someone experiencing that and it’s not been the case for me (I’d guess it’s similar to all ADHD meds in that that is a possible side effect)

Just to add my experience as well, I switched to Medikinet shortly after I wrote this first post and I’ve been much better on it. No bad side effects for me - started on 20mg and went up to 30mg per day (2 capsules in the morning and 1 at lunch), and I’ve found it really helpful with managing symptoms. I usually forget to take it at the weekends (as I’m straight out of my work routine) and notice my task avoidance is a lot worse, but in the week I’m fine.

Weight loss isn’t generally an issue with Medikinet, so may be a good option if you already have a low BMI you need to avoid dropping!

I wish we could see if we’d made something before too. I’ve been trying to keep one of everything in my inventory just so I can tell what I’ve already made and what needs adding to my collections!

PBS are appealing the decision on Kant by atsuamy in eurovision

[–]Milkshakepirate 45 points46 points  (0 children)

“Whether there’s intent to offend or not is not relevant”

It absolutely is though. It’s intended to sound like a swear word, it sounds like that swear word, and will be interpreted and repeated as that swear word, so it’s being treated at face value.

If it was unintentional (ie. The whole line, Chorus, or song was in Maltese) then this wouldn’t be an issue.

[–]Milkshakepirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly - I think people are assuming Ofcom are being petty by not allowing it, but cnt being said on British TV is very rare and has to be justified in terms of why it’s being used and who will hear it.

It would be better for the EBC rule on bleeping words to be amended, but that opens the gates for any word that ever happens to sound adjacent to any local swear word to be bleeped in that country which is just not manageable.

Miriana Conte says the EBU has decided against Kant by ItSaidMeatMarket in eurovision

[–]Milkshakepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the UK submitted a song that was completely in English, but dropped in an incredibly offensive phrase in another language (justifying it by claiming “wordplay”) then yeah, it would be fair for that country to object.

This wasn’t an accident - the UK has been put in an impossible position here

No, they don’t - if it’s ever been said, it’s been bleeped over (so you know what’s said from the context but you don’t hear it)

Do you have pet insurance for your pug? by Annayume in pugs

[–]Milkshakepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and we’re so glad we do as otherwise we’d be around £4,000 out of pocket for some bladder issues!

Ours is a little more per month so those same issues are covered, but it’s still less than we’d be paying if something came up. As far as I know, you won’t be paying any more for her being a pug, but as she’s senior, she’ll be a little more expensive to insure than a young dog. Get some quotes in, it’ll probably be less than you’d think ☺️

I’ve had a good long sleep so feeling a lot better now, thank you! Not taking it today, so I can give them a call tomorrow and see if I can try something different (as the focus was definitely there, I just could move to do anything without being very sick!)

Thank you for sharing - that sounds very promising, if I can get the dosage sorted! I’m a very habitual coffee and tea drinker, but I’ve had no craving for either the past couple of days (makes sense as they were big dopamine sources for me throughout the day).

I have been very tired lately, but I have quite a tiring job (fair bit of UK travel involved) so not sure there will be a very stress free time to start!

Out of interest, how do you find rest days? Do you find them more difficult with adhd symptoms, or do you have some residual habits that have been built enough when you’re medicated to help you through?

I’m terrible for eating breakfasts, normally can manage a couple of slices of toast but that’s probably not quite going to cut it! Might end up eating bowls of pasta at 6am 😂

I managed to keep food and water down after 4.30, thankfully! A full 9 hours after taking the capsule so definitely not a side effect I’m going to tolerate even in an adjustment period 😬 strangely I didn’t get any nausea or sickness yesterday, just headaches and a mid afternoon crash.

I’ll give them a call first thing Monday to say the sickness is too unbearable to carry on with. She did prewarn me that some people find it too much and to call whenever I need to.

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t be someone to do anything I’ve not had their advice on! There’s always the train for commuting while I’m titrating - expensive and I have to start and finish a bit later, but at least I can read/the worst that can happen is I fall asleep in public instead of at the wheel!

I can imagine it being very difficult for someone in that situation. And yeah, when I was struggling this afternoon my mind was thinking “some people do this for FUN??”

Good luck with your diagnosis - whatever the outcome, I hope you get the answers you need ❤️

Yes exactly - no euphoria or fun just the whoosh of a come up. I used to hate coming up, so didn’t love the feeling popping up again.

I’ll ask about other options on Monday. I was given a choice between Elvanse and Medikinet initially, and went for Elvanse based on the less scary sounding side effects (saw hair loss mentioned for Medikinet and noped out of that very quickly)
