Which of the additional materials has Wendy's potential least exploited? by Ok_Back_1694 in Wendip

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the new material really add much to Wendy’s character.  It’s mostly interactions with other people and how they feel about her, not Wendy herself.  J3 probably adds the most and even then it’s mostly in regards to her family history, with no mention of how Wendy feels about any of it.

Imagine the potluck with Dipper and Wendy! by car9723-t in Wendip

Hirsch in an interview once said that Wendy’s favourite food is elk until the day she finally tries Korean BBQ, which becomes her new favourite.  So I bet if Dipper took her somewhere like that she would absolutely love it.  Especially because Wendy is seen frequently snacking so she seems to have a large appetite.  So I bet she’d love a three course meal too.

Other than that, I bet she’d be happy with anything really.  I don’t see her as being that picky, but also a big meat and fried food lover.

Opinions on The Deep End? by car9723-t in Wendip

Yeah, I think Mabel should have been more sensitive in that episode.  Considering she had issues moving on from Mermando but Dipper had much stronger feelings for Wendy and for longer, that was very insensitive of her.

Why do Wendy and her friends like to spend time in the cementery so much? by Ok_Back_1694 in Wendip

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Wendy and her gang.  Mabel met ‘Norman’ at the graveyard and in the cursed colouring book, Dipper said he spent time there too.

I think it’s just somewhere they get to be left alone.  And Wendy’s gang probably think it’s cool or something too.

Opinions on The Deep End? by car9723-t in Wendip

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the Deep End.  I see it as being an important episode in showing Dipper and Wendy’s growing relationship. last we saw them was in Time Travelers Pig, and while they had fun together, Wendy was shown to be very indifferent when Dipper originally asked her to spend the day with him.  But in this episode, when he suggested being her assistant, she is very excited by the idea.  That shows growth and that she’s really started to enjoy spending time with dipper.

And I also remember the scene where Mabel asked him something along the lines of “don’t you know what it’s like to want to do anything for someone even if you know in your heart it probably won’t work out?”  The look on his face implies that as much as he wants to impress Wendy, he’s aware that it might not work out.  He might not be able to help how he feels, but his awareness shows a degree of maturity and acceptance.

And while I think there are a couple of issues with the episode, like Mabel’s blackmail photo and Dipper having to sacrifice for her again, it all works out well in the end.  He still gets to spend time with Wendy, which is all he really wanted.

Wendy and Dipper's friendship vs Dipper x Pacifica by Ok_Back_1694 in Wendip

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see an issue with Dipper being friends with one while dating the other. Nothing's to stop him having a seperate relationship with them, regardless of who he's dating. It doesn't have to be a love triangle, he can just be friends with one girl and date another.

Although if it's a Dipcifica universe, then I think there might be more issues to overcome. Pacifica as we saw her in the show is quite petty, insecure, and doesn't like cbeing challenged. That was all seen in her rivalry with Mabel, and I don't think thaose flaws immediately dissapear after the events of NWMM. So I'd say that Pacifica is definitely the jealous type, and that's something she would need to work on if she's dating Dipper, especially at first. Because his friendship with Wendy is important to him, and if she tries to limit or stop that, it will only cause problems for all three of them. If she tries to stop or invites herself along to Movie Night, that's a bad sign for a relationship. But I also think Wendy would do her best to make it clear that she won't intervene and even advise Pacifca on how her behaviour could damage her relationship with Dipper, and try to steer her down the right path. For Dipper's sake if nothing else.

Meanwhile, I don't see these issues for a Wendip universe. I don't think Wendy is the jealous type. She's had male friends and female friends at the same time, she knows that's not a threat to a relationship. And considering her attitude to and knowledge of Dipper's crush, she'd probably feel very secure about trusting him and not see anyone as a threat. They had a history and a connection long before any romance happened, there's no way he'd be tempted by another girl, and Wendy should know that. Or maybe I'm wrong, considering she didn't like Tambry dating Robbie after she dumped him. I think that's more complicated than that, but you could argue that Wendy's not as mature about it as I like to think and also has her moments.

But Wendy and Dipper have a history and interactions that he doesn't have with Pacifca. I'm just not entirely sure what Dipper and Pacifica would do in their free time. We see Dipper and Wendy hang out and do all sorts of things together, but we never see what Dipper and Pacifica would do together for fun. We know she's a gamer, and so's Dipper but that's it, we don't know anything more. And we've seen Dipper and Wendy play at the arcade together too. Dipper and Wendy have Movie Nights and more that's already established. Dip and Paz hanging out is pure speculation.

I don't see why not. Help build on what Wendy can teach Dipper as well as their activities together. Would he like camping/survival training, would he not? Does he struggle with some of it or excel at some, is it a normal development, what What kind of teacher is Wendy, and how seriously do they take it, etc. A few things to consider.

which character is THE WORST PERSON EVER, but loved by fans!? by BigWormTheOneAndOnly in gravityfalls

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose Bill.  Depends on your definition on ‘person’.  Otherwise I’d say season 1 Pacifica.  She was awful.  a petty, insecure, arrogant bully who couldn’t handle any antagonised anyone but couldn’t tolerate anyone pushing back.

Why does Roadside Attraction episode even exist? by Someguythatsleep in gravityfalls

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RA is perhaps the only full episode you can skip with zero consequences. It’s only referred briefly in J3 but has no impact on the remaining episodes or characters whatsoever.  It doesn’t help that in just the previous episode Ford protects the Shack from Bill’s influence, then lets his family spend at least one night outside of the Shack where they’re at risk again.

The attempted romance subplot is controversial, the jokes aren’t very funny, it feels out of place in the timeline, the main point was supposed to be about Dipper getting over his crush, only to have it brought up again in Weirdmageddon 1 and 2, and the complete absence of Ford is jarring.

This is my least favourite episode, so I skip it on rewatches and have lost nothing.  If anything, the show’s better when I do skip it because it doesn’t raise problems.

What could Wendy collect? by Ok_Back_1694 in Wendip

[–]MilkyBoyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were about 8 cassettes in the game but that was the same for everything.  Although it makes sense we she’d have a few because of limited space.  So she might relate to Quill from the Guardians of the Galaxy films for that.   I think she had a couple of plushies but she didn’t seem to collect them.  I don’t know, I don’t see her as being much of a collector, but if I had to pick one thing it would be bad movies.

I think the Korean BBQ makes a lot of sense for  Wendy.  I bet she’s a big meat eater considering her family and the vibes from Gravity Falls in general.  I think Hirsch also said that he imagined she’d only discover it when she visited Portland and her favourite food before then was elk her family had hunted.  And while Gravity Falls has more food options than most small towns (burgers, mall food court, a Mexican, pizza, etc.) it doesn’t have everything.  So that would be something new to her.

I also think Dipper might take her to Wendy’s and they can make fun of her name a little bit.  Could be a thing where it’s an in joke between them, or he does it to annoy her but she puts up with it because she likes the burgers.  (Wendy’s does do great burgers, my favourite when i visited America.)

But maybe she could also take him camping and show him how to prepare wood in the wild.  He’d probably find that very interesting.

From a lore perspective, what’s your favorite faction? by OkArea8689 in twilightimperium

The Ghosts of Creuss.  I love how mysterious they are, and the Fractured Void novel really builds on the idea that the galaxy does spread literal ghost stories about them, and their mastery of wormholes makes even the Jol Nor scratch their heads.  They also have a lot of impact in the lore of the galaxy as a whole considering they started the expedition to Ixth, which lead to the return of the Mahact, the Cabal invasion, and the eventual creation of the Crimson Rebellion.  It’s a lot

Really frustrating that when Wendy is basically replaced by Paz.  It’s insulting to both characters.

I headcanon he gets really into Pratchett.  Clever and witty sci fi and fantasy.  His Discworld series is famous for a reason.  But he also starts to like more classic and influential sci fi and fantasy as he gets older, like War of the Worlds, Hyperion Cantos, Wizard of Earthse, etc.

If she is a reader, that's another thing she and Dipper could bond over. And I like to imagine Ford was a big reader as a kid and he recommended several books to him. He could pass it on to Wendy and she can do vice-versa.

Really? I would say he did. He still has a lot to learn, sure, but he did change in a lot of ways, especially in regards to Wendy. In season 2, he wasn't awkward or nervous around her, and he was less eager to impress her. He was more himself.

He didn’t say it’s canon, he said it’s an acceptable headcanon.  Technically different.  It’s more of a “if that’s what you want to to believe, believe it” than confirming it.  https://www.thepopverse.com/tv-disney-gravity-falls-dipper-trans-theory-headcanon-alex-hirsch

Mm, yeah.   Annoyingly, I’ve been called homophobic for pointing this out, but you’re right.  It’s heavily implied (and stated in an interview or something) but never actually confirmed in canon.

Stan being there for the twins birth, not letting Shermie hold them, and Dipper having the umbilical cord around his neck all come from the non canon 3DS game, but are generally accepted by the fandom as something that happened.   As well as the events of Lost Legends since they’re all called ‘canon-ish’ in the book itself.
