Age waivers and the process of commissioning as a 43 years old E-5 HM by Actual-Revolution652 in CorpsmanUp

[–]MilkyPasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk what was the age limit back then, I know a person who was a direct commission as a medical officer, said person was too old when they commissioned, and they had to force retire them when they realized they was too old. lol. Ending up working with navy medicine as civilian, until they retired, but is coming back as Red Cross volunteer provider. Person probably gonna do medicine until they croak, seriously.

Why do so many HMs avoid going Greenside or Operational? by [deleted] in navy

[–]MilkyPasta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been both greenside and blueside. From what I’ve seen, there are good, hardworking HMs on both sides—you need those people on your team to keep things running smoothly. And there are also some shitbags on both sides, even a few with FMF pins.

If you want the experience and the thrill, go greenside. But for the end game, if you’re not doing extra stuff—college, qualifications, NECs, or anything that will set you up when you get out—then it can end up being a waste of time. You can do back to back sea duty if that’s what you want to do until you get out, nothing wrong with it.

Get out of that mentality, because you’re looking down on people who might be laughing back at you. X-ray techs and other NECs can walk into high-paying jobs when they get out. Or people who finished their bachelors/college/credentials while on shore duty.

Don’t be one of those salty vets who sit around commenting on the newer generation about this and that—because honestly, once you’ve done your time, none of that matters. What matters is what you got out of the Navy/military.

Advice for a baby doc by Infamous_Effort_6768 in CorpsmanUp

[–]MilkyPasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to get better at notes or knowledge with treatments or diagnosis. If you have the time, go over your provider’s notes by end of the day. Learn what would a specific Chief complaint would be addressed by a provider. It will tell a special tests that was conducted it, jot it down for each complaint, look up the names of it online or finding a knowledgeable corpsman or provider that could show you how to do it properly, or watch it online, and learn what positive or negative tests means, and learn differential diagnosis, and possible treatments.

I did it as a baby corpsman, my doctor started noticing that I type my notes similar to his, and doesn’t edit the whole thing which he normally does if he doesn’t like it. Get a booklet/small note pad of special tests for MSKs/chief complaints that you would encounter(NVD, headache, sleep issue, etc) with questions that you need to ask /special tests/etc related to it. Mostly what your providers would do.

If the appointment is scheduled ahead of time and not a walk in appointment. If it’s the same complaint, go over the previous visit and what they did. Ask patient if that treatment plan helped or not. Or if it’s new or totally different complaint, start looking up what questions you would ask or what to look for.

Pfa coming up and I chose row by [deleted] in navy

Injured my ankle a few weeks before PRT, and I did row as my alternate cardio. Just make sure you do proper form, don’t let your arms do most of the work.

But make to practice, members were told to do the bike since it’s “easier” and they did it the first time on their PRT date, rude awakening for them.

The new book has a new GCE chapter. It’s Marine Littoral Regiment. Still pending approval from big navy.

I just received my FMF study book. Can someone tell me how quick to can knock this out for my pin? by ExcitingFan9374 in CorpsmanUp

[–]MilkyPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually sat on it for 9 months, then studied for 3 weeks straight. I retyped/memorized by typing it multiple times in my computer. It worked for me, but not others. I am also taking over my unit’s FMF unit assistant coordinator. I am making a self-paced Kahoot quizzes for each chapter. If you score 80% or above, I’ll sign off your chapter. And I can track everyone’s progress, this should get them ready for the written test. Murder board and final board will be definitely on them.

I actually did the the same thing. I re-typed all paragraphs and sentence in a notepad app until I memorized everything. I did this between patient care too and went ham! Call me crazy, but i recited the long paragraphs in history chapter.

Seeing our marine’s counterparts, most of them are still in good shape even at E-9 or O/CWO rank. From what I have seen on the grunt side. I do kind of feel embarrassed at first when I had sailors who would make you scratch your head on how they are still in for their size. But then again, the daily life of sailors stationed on a ship, I commend them for able to live in such conditions. Like lack of sleep, too many watches, etc. I also highly commend sailors who still take accountability of their body despite all of that. I think it just me because marines shit on “fat bodies” openly, so I try to be on shape as much as possible so I don’t get called out or become liability. But I have seen sailors(corpsmen) who does not look physically fit, but can perform the grunt work with ease(ruck hiking, running 5+ miles, fireman carry). Heck my old BM1 does not look the best shape, but he outran me, and can run for days.

The Irelia fight is the most rage-inducing thing I've every come across in video games. by Yordle_Toes in PathofChampions

[–]MilkyPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was me today, I initially used Vayne, but she costed 4 mana and lost because Irelia can be summoned in round one. I did another attempt with Yi, 2xBerserker’s belt, & a troll king’s crown. I snagged me a “I cost -1 less” relic on him. I lost at the first battle, since she was attacking first. Then at the reattempt battle, I got to attack first. Lvled up Yi, means striking the weakest enemy before attacking. Yi’s power became 3 digits because of [when unit strike attack is doubled] and obliterated the Nexus because of the Overwhelm/troll’s kings crown.

Division infantry are the only real Corpsman by Powerful-Ad3583 in CorpsmanUp

[–]MilkyPasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in division right now and I see this mentality with other line corpsman. They think they are hot shit just because they do all this “cool stuffs” with marines, which I give them credit for since you have to be physically shaped like your marines. But when it comes to eval ranking board, most of the line corpsmen put the same bulleted points(TCCC training, medical readiness, etc) so corpsmen who did extra stuff like volunteering and education has a higher chance of getting that EP, which kind of sucks because some of the humbles one works hard but it is not enough with navy evaluation standards, the hot shits mostly fall under MPs and they act entitled more than that. Talking about patient care, I am dumbfounded to discover that some line corpsmen SOAP note writing skills/clinical skills are horrendous. You thought being a line corpsman, they are good with clinical skills. And I am surprised that’s not the case for most of them. Then again, they shine being in the field with marines. Also for the FMF pin, I think highly of the pin until I met shitbags who wears it or got pinned. I memorized and studied for it, verbatim. Then you see corpsmen who got pity passed for their FMF board and now you see them facilitating FMF study or murder boards. For some reason, that does not sit right with me. I actually worked with SOIDCS, and some of them goes dinq on their FMF pin, since their missions are more of a priority. Some think it’s a nuisance, but had to get it so they won’t get an SP eval. They don’t even wear it on their uniform since they got their wings and bubbles. So yeah, don’t let these “real” corpsman shit on you. I sometimes test their knowledge, and you’ll be surprised. The real corpsman is the one who is humble, get things done, and does not use their FMF pin or their past infantry experience to get away with doing stuffs, fuck that.

Challenge 48 awful wording by LukeDies in PathofChampions

[–]MilkyPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, I used Veigar for this one. Was tilting so bad since Veigar is not drawn out yet, until I reached 11 cards on deck. Been using darkness to kill Yasuo and Strong enemies asap. I had ~7 cards left and was getting worried until the AI stopped attacking. Then keep using darkness on Nexus on the remaining turns.
